Floating youtube always on top
Floating Player for YouTube™ Videos — keep watching while you work Pop any YouTube video out into a small, always-on-top floating window so you can keep watching while you browse other tabs, reply to email, take notes, or work in another app. One click — or one keyboard shortcut — and your video follows you anywhere on screen. Whether you are following a tutorial while you code, keeping a match in the corner during a break, or catching up on a talk while you tidy your inbox, the video stays with you. This release is a ground-up reliability and design overhaul: faster to open, far smarter about which video it grabs, fully translated, and packed with new playback controls. WHAT'S NEW IN THIS VERSION A completely redesigned popup and settings page. The popup now shows a clean status card with an animated equalizer logo and a live indicator — a pulsing green dot and moving bars whenever a video is floating, and a calm neutral state when nothing is playing. A single, state-aware button starts or stops the floating player, so you never have to guess which button to press. The settings page has been rebuilt into tidy sections — Playback, Window, Appearance, and Keyboard shortcut — with modern toggles, segmented controls, a corner picker, and an opacity slider. Every change saves instantly and syncs across your devices. RELIABILITY FIXES We rewrote the core so the extension floats the video you are actually watching. Older versions grabbed the last video on the page, which meant a paused home-feed preview, a search thumbnail, or a Shorts clip could pop out instead of the clip you wanted. Now it targets the playing, visible, main player every time — including Shorts. • Clear feedback instead of silent failure. If a page has no playable video, or isn't supported, you get a plain-language message right in the popup instead of a button that quietly does nothing. • "Close floating video everywhere" now really means everywhere — it reaches videos floating in other browser windows, not just the one you happen to be looking at. • Native Picture-in-Picture keeps working. We stopped leaving an internal flag set that used to block Chrome's own right-click and media-hub PiP after you had used the extension. • Broad coverage across YouTube — m.youtube.com, music.youtube.com, and youtube-nocookie.com — plus YouTube videos embedded on other websites and inside page frames. • No more console errors, no more stray messages sent to unrelated tabs, and no more English-only interface: every screen is now translated into all the languages we ship. • We removed a large unused framework (about 160 KB) and dead styles, so the popup opens faster and the package stays lean. NEW FEATURES • Keyboard shortcut: press Alt+P to start or stop the floating video instantly — and remap it to anything you like at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. • Works on any website's videos. Beyond YouTube, you can float videos on Vimeo, Twitch, online courses, and more, using a click-to-activate model that adds no scary new install warnings. • Optional auto-float: automatically pop the video out the moment you switch away from the tab, and back in when you return. It is off by default, so nothing ever surprises you. • A floating-player button built right into YouTube's own player controls, for a one-gesture launch next to the miniplayer icon. • Enhanced floating window (beta, Chrome 116+): a richer detached player with a seek bar, current-time display, play and pause, skip forward or back ten seconds, playback-speed control, and playlist previous and next. Choose its default size, corner, and opacity; pick a light, dark, or system theme; show an optional title bar; and let it remember where you left it. When you close the window, the video returns cleanly to the page right where it was. • Full control over the uninstall feedback page — a single setting lets you switch it off, so you are always in charge of what opens. PRIVACY FIRST This extension keeps the minimal, trustworthy footprint it has always had. There is no broad site access baked in, no tracking, and no data collection. Other sites are supported only when you actively click to turn the player on, and your preferences sync privately through your own browser account and never touch our servers. FULLY LOCALIZED The popup, settings, and all status and error messages are now available in 44 languages, so the experience feels native wherever you are in the world. Enjoy distraction-free multitasking: start a video, pop it out, and keep it in view while you get everything else done. If the new version makes your day a little smoother, please leave a rating — it genuinely helps us keep improving the player for everyone.
