Learn to read by memorizing words? THIS IS WHY 50% OF ADULTS IN THE US ARE ILLITERATE! There are almost 500,000 words in English..you can't memorize them all! I taught my 3 1/2 yr old g'daughter to READ & spell all 3 & 4 letter words as well as some longer ones line monkey & goose. She learned by PHONICS. First she sang the alphabet, then she sang the phonemes ('a' says 'Ay or 'a', B says 'Buh', etc. ). Then she sounded out the words. Now she can read beginner books WITHOUT help! I tuto... Show more
