Overview
Catch Hacker News stories missed between page navigations
When browsing Hacker News, stories constantly shift rank. By the time you finish reading page 1 and click "More," some stories that were on page 2 may have risen into page 1's range — they disappear from page 2 entirely, and you never see them. LeapStories fixes this. When you navigate to the next page, it re-fetches the previous page in the background, compares it against your original snapshot, then captures and injects any stories that rose into the gap while you were browsing the previous page. Features: • Automatically detects and injects missed stories at the top of the page • Dims stories you've already seen that dropped down from the previous page • Customizable duplicate story prefix text and opacity • Zero external requests — only fetches from news.ycombinator.com • Minimal permissions — only uses local storage Currently targets the default top stories listing (/ and /news).
