This extension is not working

Was trying to get around the webp debacle. Did some googling, downloaded 'Save image as PNG' extension. Got a pop-up saying "failed to decode Image". So then I downloaded 'Save image as type' extension. Click save as PNG. Nothing happens. Click Save as Jpeg. Nothing happens. Not even a pop-up explaining it doesn't work.
