Domain Marker

Notifies you of non-ASCII characters in domain names via the extension icon

Domain Marker helps you see which characters a website's domain name contains. An orange ! appears on the extension icon when a domain contains non-ASCII characters, such as Greek or Cyrillic letters, accented Latin letters, or Japanese characters. Click the icon to highlight those characters and see their positions, scripts and Unicode code points. The popup also shows the domain's ASCII (Punycode) form without an extra click. Features: - Automatic, per-tab detection for HTTP and HTTPS domains. - Character-by-character highlighting and details. - Unicode decoding of internationalized domain names, even when Chrome shows their Punycode form. - Localized descriptions, tooltips and popup text in 13 locales, with English as the fallback. - Right-to-left Arabic layout while keeping domain names and Unicode values left-to-right. Privacy: Processing happens in your browser. Domain Marker reads the URLs of open tabs to inspect their hostnames. It does not save URLs, build browsing history or send browsing data to the developer or any other recipient. It does not inject scripts into websites, use analytics or load remote code. The tabs permission is needed so the icon can update automatically as you navigate and switch tabs. Paths, query strings, URL credentials and fragments are not used for detection or shown in the popup. The ! badge indicates non-ASCII characters; it is not a safety verdict. Legitimate internationalized domains also trigger it. Domain Marker does not change text colors inside Chrome's address bar. After installation, pin Domain Marker to your toolbar and click its icon on a page to inspect the domain.
