Lawdie Time Capture

Turns your browser activity into segments a host app can offer back as time. Titles and minutes only, never content.

Lawdie Time Capture records how long you actually spent on each thing in your browser, so the time you worked is the time you can account for. Requires a Lawdie account. This extension has no interface of its own — it feeds the Time page in Lawdie CRM and Kiwi. Installed on its own, it will do nothing for you. WHAT IT DOES Legal work is spread across a dozen places no timer can see: Word Online, SharePoint, PACER, CourtListener, county clerk portals, agency sites, research. At the end of the day you reconstruct it from memory, and memory undercounts. The hours lost that way are hours a fee petition or a funder report can never claim. Time Capture watches which tab has your attention and turns it into segments — a stretch of time, and the reason it ended: you closed the tab, switched away, navigated elsewhere, or stopped touching the keyboard. Your Lawdie app matches those segments to a matter and drafts a time entry from them. Nothing is recorded on its own. Every draft waits for you to keep it or throw it away. IT TIMES ATTENTION, NOT OPEN TABS A document left open while you are in a meeting is not two hours of work, and this will not tell you it was. A minute without input ends the segment where it stopped it is not backdated, so reading quietly still counts as working. Stretches under twenty seconds are dropped as noise. Both thresholds are yours to change. WHAT IT KEEPS, AND WHAT IT REFUSES TO Watching a lawyer's browser is not a small thing to ask, so the limits are built in rather than promised. • Nothing leaves your browser. The extension makes no network requests at all. No server, no sign-in, no sync, no analytics. Everything sits in this browser's local storage and is deleted on the schedule you set — seven days by default. Only the entries you choose to keep are sent anywhere, and they go to your own firm's Lawdie, as time you approved. • Page titles and addresses only and never page content. Query strings and fragments are stripped before anything is stored, because that is where search terms and session tokens live. • Screenshots, if you leave them on, are shrunk and blurred before being stored. The legible original never touches disk. They are there so you can recognise your own work, not so anyone can read it. • You decide where it must not look. A denylist, not an allowlist: real legal work touches too many sites for a permit list to be workable, so everything is watched except what you exclude. Webmail, banks and social sites are excluded out of the box. A site on that list produces no title, no address, no screenshot and no segment at all. • Excluding a site also deletes what was already captured from it. Adding your bank means "do not hold this," not "stop from now on." • One click on the toolbar icon pauses everything. One button on the options page deletes everything it holds. WHY IT ASKS FOR ACCESS TO ALL SITES Because the alternative is worse. An allowlist would mean naming every court portal, agency site and research tool in advance, and everything you forgot would be invisible — which is precisely the time you are already losing. Broad access with a denylist you control is the honest arrangement, and it is why the storage rules above are written the way they are. WHAT IT IS NOT Not a keylogger. Not a screen recorder. Not surveillance software: raw activity never leaves your machine, and nobody else sees anything you did not keep. No rates, no invoices, no billing.
