Overview

Put the newest post from any blog on your new tab page, with a desktop notification when something new is published.

Latest Post turns your new tab page into a single, calm place to see the most recent article from a blog you care about. Choose any RSS or Atom feed. Every new tab opens on that feed's newest post, with its cover image, title, date, summary, and opening paragraph. If the post has a podcast episode attached, there is a player for it too. A "Read the full post" button takes you to the article itself. NOTIFICATIONS Chrome checks your feed in the background and shows a desktop notification the first time a new post appears. Clicking it opens the article. The first check after you add a feed only records a baseline, so you are never notified about a post that was already there. You choose how often to check — from every 5 minutes to every 3 hours — and you can turn notifications off entirely. PRIVACY Everything stays on your device. The feed address you enter, a cached copy of that feed, and your display preferences are stored locally by Chrome. There is no analytics, no tracking, and no server of our own — the browser fetches the feed directly from the address you provide. Site access is requested when you add a feed, and is scoped to that one domain. WHAT YOU NEED An RSS or Atom feed address, over HTTPS. Most blogs publish one at /feed, /rss, or /rss.xml, and many advertise it in their page source.
