Last Tab Focus - Previous Tab on Close

Close a tab and return to the one you were just using in the same Chrome window. No setup needed.

Finished checking a link or reading a search result? Close the tab and return to the one you were just using. Last Tab Focus remembers the order you visit tabs in each Chrome window. There is nothing to set up. Use Chrome as usual. Close the current tab with its close button, Ctrl+W on Windows/Linux, or Command+W on Mac. The most recently used tab that is still open in the same window becomes active. For example, with tabs A, B and C open, switch from A to C and close C: you return to A. If you visit A → B → C, closing C takes you to B, and closing B takes you to A. To try it after installing, switch between two tabs and close the current one. No popup or settings screen is needed. Your tab order stays in your browser for the current session. It is not kept when you restart Chrome. If there is no earlier tab to return to, Chrome chooses the next tab as usual. This extension does not reopen closed tabs. No analytics, tracking, or external connections. No browsing data is sent anywhere. Questions or problems?
