Last Tab Focus - Previous Tab on Close
Overview
Close the current tab with Ctrl+W or Command+W and return to the previously active tab in the same Chrome window.
Close a tab and return to the tab you were using before it—even when that tab is not next to the one you closed. Last Tab Focus remembers the order in which you use tabs within each Chrome window. When you close the current tab with Ctrl+W or Command+W, the most recently used tab that is still open becomes active. For example, suppose tabs A, B, and C are open. If you switch from A to C and then close C, you return to A, not the neighboring tab B. If you use A, then B, then C, closing C returns to B; closing B returns to A. The extension only changes which open tab Chrome selects after you close one. It does not reopen closed tabs or add tab groups, saved sessions, side panels, workspaces, or sync.
