Find bookmarks you no longer need and delete them safely. Always archived first with a grace period.

### Bookmarks are easy to add and hard to review. You save a page, forget you saved it, and a few years later there are hundreds of them — too many to go through by hand. ### Lapse is built for the opposite of what most bookmark tools do. It does not help you organise, tag, or search. It helps you get rid of things. ### WHAT IT FINDS • Broken links — pages that return 404 or whose domain has expired • Duplicates — the same page saved more than once, often in different folders • No content — placeholder URLs, browser-internal pages, and search confirmation pages saved by mistake • Unused — bookmarks you have not opened in 90, 180 or 365 days, your choice The first three work the day you install it. Judging what is unused needs time, because Chrome only keeps about 90 days of history; Lapse starts measuring immediately and tells you exactly when each threshold becomes available. ### NOTHING IS DELETED BEHIND YOUR BACK Lapse never removes a bookmark on its own. You review what it found and choose what to act on — nothing is pre-selected. Archiving moves a bookmark to a "Lapse Archive" folder, where it waits for a grace period you set and can be restored with one click. Anything you mark "keep permanently" is excluded from every automatic action, for good. ### FIX INSTEAD OF DELETE When a page has simply moved, you do not have to lose the bookmark. Open the site, find the new address, and correct the URL in place. Lapse rechecks it and drops it from the list. You can also rename a bookmark or move it to another folder while you review. ### CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT "BROKEN" MEANS A link checker that guesses is worse than none. A corporate intranet that will not resolve outside the VPN is not a dead site. Neither is a server that blocks bots with a 403, nor one that fails a modern TLS handshake, nor a host that rate-limited you because you checked too fast. Lapse sorts these into "needs review" and leaves them to you. Only an explicit 404 or 410 is ever treated as broken. ### PRIVATE BY DESIGN There is no server and no account. Every judgement happens on your computer. Your bookmarks, titles and history are never uploaded. Link checking requests only the bookmarked page itself, and that permission is optional — decline it and everything else still works. ### Available in English and Japanese.
