Language Filter for YouTube
Overview
Keep chosen languages out of YouTube Home and Shorts recommendations. For immersion learners.
Language Filter for YouTube helps language learners create a more immersive viewing environment by filtering videos in their native language from YouTube Home and Shorts. Choose the languages you want to remove, and the extension detects matching videos using their titles and channel names. It then trains your recommendations using YouTube’s “Not interested” or “Don’t recommend this channel” actions. A hide-only mode is also available. By reducing content in languages you already understand, your feed can become more focused on the target language you want to learn. Features: • Filters YouTube Home and Shorts • Supports Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Thai, Hebrew, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Italian • Detects languages from video titles and channel names • Handles translated Shorts titles • Offers recommendation-training and hide-only modes • Saves your preferences locally • Uses Chrome’s on-device language detection where required • Does not collect or transmit personal data Designed for immersion learners who want fewer distractions in their native language and more exposure to the language they are learning.
