Learn English with videos and articles, then save words and sentences for review. Lang Loop is a free Chrome extension for learning with YouTube captions and web articles. No login or payments are required. • YouTube: View English captions in a list, move between sentences, repeat a sentence, pause automatically, show or blur translations, and save sentences. The caption list appears at the top of the right column and can be collapsed using its header icon. It is hidden in full-screen mode or when there is no right column. Ads, live streams, and DVR are unsupported. • Web articles: Ctrl-click (Cmd-click on Mac) an English word to open the dictionary, or hold the same key while selecting 2–5 words to look up a phrase. Show page translations alongside the original or by themselves, and return to the original. • Vocabulary and review: Save words and caption sentences with their sources. Select an entry in the list to see its status, context, and source. Choose English-to-Japanese, Japanese-to-English (with optional spelling input), or listening practice, then self-assess after revealing the answer. Use ↓ to reveal the answer, then ← for 「もう一度」 (Again) or → for 「思い出せた」 (Remembered). Use ↑/↓ to move through the vocabulary list. These arrow shortcuts do not apply while editing an input or composing text. The trash icon on each row deletes without confirmation; choose 「元に戻す」 (Undo) within 10 seconds to restore it. Deleting another entry commits the previous deletion. Japanese-to-English requires words with definitions; listening covers words, while sentences use English-to-Japanese. Each round ends after 10 saved answers or when no questions remain, showing the answer breakdown and remaining questions. Repeated answers to the same entry count separately. Where applicable, a short message describes recorded facts, and the first round end of the day shows the total study-day count. Study days count dates with saved answers, using a local 04:00 boundary. Use 「バックアップする」 to save a JSON backup and 「バックアップを読み込む」 to restore it. Study-day records stay only on your device, are not sent externally, and are excluded from JSON backups. Settings save automatically when changed; there is no Save button. • Read aloud: Listen to English words, saved sentences, articles, and selected text using local English voices. Choose a voice and a pace: Slow, Normal, or Fast. Dictionary definition lookup and speech run on your device. During translation, caption sentences, page text, headwords missing from the dictionary, sentences you translate during review, and the source and target languages are sent to Google Translate; Microsoft Translator is tried if Google is unavailable. Nearby context is not sent for auxiliary dictionary translations. If both services are unavailable, Chrome's on-device translation is tried. Designed for desktop Chrome. External translation requires a network connection; on-device translation and English voice availability depend on your device. Protected pages such as Chrome's internal pages are unsupported.
