Rewind for Messenger – Unsent & Edited Message Viewer

Overview
See messages and photos that were unsent or edited in Messenger. Free, private, no account. Everything stays on your device.
Ever read a message in Messenger, looked away, and it was gone? "Unsent" or quietly edited? Rewind for Messenger keeps what your browser showed you, so you can still see it. WHAT YOU GET • Deleted messages stay readable. A clear red "Deleted" card appears right in the chat with the original text. • Edited messages keep their history. A blue "Edited" badge shows the original and every version. • Deleted photos too. Images you saw are saved as small compressed copies and shown again if the sender removes them. • An instant heads-up. A desktop notification and a badge on the toolbar icon tell you the moment something is deleted or edited (optional). • Everything in one place. A searchable history page shows who, what, when and in which chat. Export to JSON or CSV any time. • Works where you chat: the full facebook.com/messages page and the chat windows docked on any Facebook page. End-to-end encrypted chats work too (see below). • Available in English, Deutsch, Español and Français. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • 100% local. Messages and images are stored in your own browser, on your own computer. No servers, no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no remote code. Your data never reaches us. • You are in control: pause anytime, exclude individual chats, cap the image cache (default 500 MB), auto-delete after 30, 90 or 365 days, remove single entries, or wipe everything with one click. • Minimal permissions, each one explained below. HONEST ABOUT THE LIMITS • It can only keep what your browser actually displayed. A message deleted before the extension saw it on your screen cannot be recovered by anyone, including this extension. Keep Messenger open in a tab and it will catch what happens while you are looking. • End-to-end encrypted chats: the extension does not break or bypass encryption. It reads the text your own browser has already decrypted and shown to you, the same way you read it, and stores it only on your device. • Facebook changes its website often. If the layout changes, the popup says "update needed" instead of failing silently, and a fix will follow. • Rewind for Messenger works only inside your own signed-in Facebook session, on conversations you can already see. It cannot read anyone else's messages. PERMISSIONS IN PLAIN ENGLISH • Facebook website access: to read the messages you see on facebook.com so they can be saved. • Facebook image servers (fbcdn.net): to make a compressed local copy of photos that were already shown to you. • Storage and unlimited storage: to keep your archive and settings on your device. • Notifications: to alert you when a message is deleted or edited. Optional, can be switched off. PLEASE BE KIND Saved messages come from conversations with other people. Use Rewind for Messenger for your own records and peace of mind, and respect the privacy of the people you chat with. Rewind for Messenger is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Meta Platforms, Inc. Facebook and Messenger are trademarks of Meta Platforms, Inc.
