Overview

Manage Chrome tabs in a tree structure with drag-and-drop, tab groups, bookmarks integration, and instant search

What's New v1.2.0 - **Saved Groups**: closed tab groups are captured and can be restored with one click, nesting intact - **Tree-preserving grouping**: auto-organize and grouping no longer flatten nested tabs - **Audio indicators**: tabs playing audio show a speaker icon, with mute/unmute from the context menu - **Letter-icon favicon fallback**: sites whose favicon fails to load get a colored first-letter icon, with a failure cache to avoid retries - **Local fonts & icons**: Roboto and Material Icons are bundled instead of fetched from the network (no external requests) - Settings menu polish and tab-grouping race-condition fixes --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Chrome extension for managing browser tabs in a hierarchical tree structure via a side panel. Core Features 1. Side Panel Tab Tree - Displays all tabs in current window as a tree structure using Fancytree library - Shows tab favicon and title for each tab; sites whose favicon fails to load fall back to a colored first-letter icon (cached to avoid retries) - Highlights the currently active tab - Supports expand/collapse of parent nodes - Fonts (Roboto) and Material Icons are bundled locally, so the panel makes no external network requests 2. Tab Hierarchy (Parent-Child Relationships) - Tabs can be nested under other tabs as children - Drag-and-drop to reorganize tab hierarchy - Drop on empty area to move tab to root level - Tree structure persists across browser sessions via `chrome.storage.local` 3. Multi-Select - **Ctrl/Cmd + Click**: Toggle individual tab selection - **Shift + Click**: Select range of tabs between last clicked and current - Visual highlight (`.multi-selected` class) for selected tabs - Move multiple selected tabs at once during drag-drop 4. Tab Operations - **Click**: Activate/switch to that tab - **Close tab**: Via close button - **Duplicate**: Opens a copy as a nested child of the original - Real-time sync with browser tab events 5. Audio Indicators - Tabs playing audio show a speaker icon in the row - Muted tabs show a muted-speaker icon - Mute/unmute a tab from its right-click context menu 6. Real-Time Sync Listens to Chrome tab events and updates UI: - `TAB_CREATED`: New tab added to tree - `TAB_REMOVED`: Tab removed from tree - `TAB_UPDATED`: Title, favicon, URL changes - `TAB_ACTIVATED`: Active tab highlight updates - `TAB_MOVED`: Tree reloads 7. Tab Groups - Chrome's native tab groups appear in the tree as color-coded folders - Create groups from selected tabs, edit name/color, ungroup, or close a whole group - Auto-organize groups loose root tabs by domain, merging into existing same-named groups - Nesting is preserved through grouping: a grouped parent keeps its nested children as long as they share the group 8. Saved Groups - Closing a tab group automatically saves it (name, color, tabs, and nesting) - The "Groups" button opens a dialog listing saved groups (color dot, tab count, relative last-used) - One-click restore reopens all tabs, re-groups them, and re-applies the saved nesting - Manual delete per group; deduped by name+color; capped at 50 (oldest dropped)
