Overview

Kvasir — interactive, in-browser code walkthroughs on GitHub, with select-code Q&A.

Kvasir turns a GitHub diff into a guided, in-browser walkthrough: it scrolls the change, highlights the lines that matter, and explains each step — then lets you select any code and ask a question in place. The explanations come from your own Claude Code session running on your machine, not from a cloud service. A small local program (the Kvasir "channel") authors each walkthrough once and caches it; the extension just renders that cached content and relays your questions to it. There is no account, no API key, and no Kvasir server — the extension's only network destination is http://localhost:8799 on your own computer. Works on PR "Files changed" pages and on plain file (blob) pages, and can span more than one repository. Requires the Kvasir command-line tool and a Claude Code session (see the project page). Open source.
