HIP — Human Integrity Protocol
Overview
Verifies HIP-attested images as you browse. Checks the public proof registry — never reads your text or history.
HIP is an open protocol that lets human creators cryptographically prove their work is human-made. This extension passively scans images on any webpage and checks them against the public HIP proof registry. When it finds an attested image, it displays a small badge on the image. Click the badge to see the full attestation details — classification, credential tier, date, and a link to the proof card. What it does: - Detects HIP-attested images as you browse - Shows a subtle badge on verified images - Click for full proof details and proof card link - Works with attested copies (embedded metadata) - No account required, no data collected What it does NOT do: - Does not read your text, passwords, or form data - Does not track your browsing history - Does not modify any page content beyond badge overlays - Does not send any personal data anywhere The extension only fetches image data to compute SHA-256 fingerprints, then checks those fingerprints against the public HIP proof registry at hipprotocol.org. No image content is stored or transmitted — only the hash. Open source. Learn more at hipprotocol.org
