Korean X-Ray
Overview
Reveal Hanja and loanword origins above Korean text without replacing the original.
Korean X-Ray See the roots behind Korean words. Korean X-Ray is a Chrome / Microsoft Edge reading extension that adds Hanja and loanword origins above supported Korean words, while keeping the original text and page layout. Discover connections as you read. Read with context • See Hanja or source words above Korean text. • Click annotations to explore dictionary entries and alternative origins. • Toggle separate colors for Hanja, English loanwords, and other loanwords. Learn at your own pace • Filter by vocabulary level and mark words as learned. • Enable automatic annotation on websites you allow, or restore the original text at any time. • Explore ambiguous candidates and save corrections locally. Private by design Dictionary and morphology resources are bundled with the extension. Annotation runs on your device, with no account and no uploading of page text. Learned words and corrections stay in local storage. No ads or subscriptions. Getting started After installation, open Korean X-Ray from the browser toolbar and click Annotate this page. Configure website access using your browser controls. Automatic annotation is off by default. Korean X-Ray provides etymological clues, not full-page translation. Results depend on context, page structure, and dictionary coverage. Chrome / Microsoft Edge internal pages and some special webpages cannot be annotated.
