Micro-Formatter for Copywriters is a small, offline utility for the text you copy every day — and the text that arrives broken. If you work with copy, you know the drill: you paste something from a PDF and every line is hard-wrapped in the middle of a sentence. You copy text from an LLM and it carries invisible characters and curly quotes into your CMS. You need the same paragraph as a clean bullet list, or a slug for the URL, or the headline in Title Case. Micro-Formatter does that in one click, on the page you are already reading. WHAT IT DOES • Smart reflow — the feature the others miss Paste text copied from a PDF, a slide export, or an AI chat and hit "Reflow / Clean pasted text". Paragraphs are detected by blank lines and their hard-wrapped lines are joined back into flowing sentences. Words broken across a line ("re- / flow") are rejoined without the stray hyphen. Bullet and numbered lists keep their own lines, their indentation, and their order — a wrapped list item is folded back into its item, and items are never merged into each other. • Strip hidden formatting Removes zero-width and other invisible characters, collapses repeated spaces and tabs, normalizes line endings, and turns curly quotes and dashes into plain ASCII — or leaves your typography alone if you prefer (see Settings). • Case and whitespace transforms lowercase · UPPERCASE · Title Case · Sentence case · Trim whitespace · Normalize spaces · Slugify. Every transform works on a copy of your text and never touches the surrounding page. • Lists and Markdown Bullets → Markdown, Markdown → Bullets, Numbers → Bullets, and Bullets → Numbers (renumbered 1., 2., 3. …). Only lines that start with a list marker are changed; indentation and blank lines survive. • Counts while you type Live word count, character count, and estimated reading time (200 words per minute) for the text you selected or pasted. • Copy it, or put it back "Copy to Clipboard" puts the result anywhere. "Replace in Page" writes the result over your original selection when it is safe to do so. No quota. Nothing you select, paste, or format is uploaded anywhere — every transform is a local string operation that runs inside the extension, and the extension ships all of its own code. The only thing it remembers between sessions is two preferences: whether you dismissed the Quick Start hint and whether to preserve typographic punctuation. WHERE IT WORKS — AND WHERE IT DOESN'T In-place replacement works perfectly on ordinary web pages. Due to browser security restrictions, direct replacement WILL NOT work on: • Chrome's built-in PDF viewer • Internal browser pages (chrome://) • The Chrome Web Store • Canvas-based or rich editors (like Google Docs or WhatsApp Web) The Smart Fallback: In these cases, the extension will notify you and keep the cleaned text safely inside the popup for you to copy. This deliberate feature allows you to easily copy text from a PDF, paste it into the popup, and click "Reflow" — solving the biggest complaint in this category!
