PageQuilt
Overview
Create a local reading edition of a website, with an offline preview and print export.
Keep a quieter copy of the web with PageQuilt. Save a page's link from the toolbar, capture readable originals, and add your own notes and topics. Revisit saved sources in your local library or combine a selection into a reading edition. Choose a reading style, review contents and images, and download PDF or EPUB for offline reading. New in 0.5.2: • Optionally collect Hacker News top stories while Chrome is running. Choose a daily limit, then review separate publisher and image access in Collected posts. Collection starts off and can be paused or turned off. • Read a live article with its HN discussion. Sort comments by top, newest, most replies or controversy. Open the original beside a discussion side panel when a publisher blocks framing. • Choose Clean article for a temporary reading view prepared locally after you grant site access. Save for offline reading is a separate action. Some publishers need the live original or produce incomplete captures. • Review persistent website grants and limited recent activity in Settings → Site access. Refusing access keeps existing reading; removing access stops future requests without erasing saved content. • Download PDFs locally without debugger permission. Downloads use Roboto and equation source text; browser layout offers the selected reading fonts and typeset equations. Downloaded PDFs are not tagged. • Improved automatic article extraction, PDF paragraph spacing, preservation of supported diagrams with embedded static icons, and popup and keyboard controls. Collection checks the current HN ranking roughly hourly, without an account or API key. It cannot reconstruct every ranking missed while Chrome was closed. Live pages and discussion need a connection. Only successfully captured content works offline. Optional on-device AI can create digests, working answers with source quotations, and discussion selections on supported Chrome devices. Model availability and setup vary; original reading, manual editions and article collection work without AI. Wisp is unavailable in this store build; no hosted relay is provided. Premium is a coming-soon preview. Optional Kindle delivery uses separately configured Gmail or Amazon connections. Review the prepared document and destination before explicitly sending. Provider acceptance does not confirm receipt on your Kindle. Saved sources, notes and books stay in this Chrome profile. Static downloads omit cookies; optional rendered capture and live publisher views may use your signed-in website session. Local PDF/EPUB generation does not upload the book. Explicit delivery sends the prepared document to the selected provider. PageQuilt has no publisher telemetry or advertising. Export important editions before clearing extension data or uninstalling. Requires Chrome desktop 131 or newer. Website structure, robots rules, permissions and collection limits can leave gaps; review capture notes and the original.
