Wordle Hint is a small, privacy-friendly helper for the daily Wordle puzzle on nytimes.com. It reads the clues already on your board and shows which words are still possible, ranked by how likely each is to be today's answer. You decide how much help you want: one glance at the count, a peek at the top answer, or nothing at all. WHAT IT DOES • Live sync – a floating panel mirrors your board as you play. Submitted rows update the list instantly; letters you are typing narrow it further ("Typing SP___ · 3 candidates start with this"). • Ranked answers – the top 20 remaining words with a probability bar. Common, base-form words come first; rare plurals and past tenses (which are almost never Wordle answers) can be pushed down. • Best next guess – suggestions scored by information (bits), so you can pick a guess that eliminates the most words even when it can't be the answer. • One-click typing – click a suggestion and it is typed into the game for you (you still press Enter). • Manual mode – switch the panel to manual, type words and click tiles to cycle gray → yellow → green. Useful for practice or for puzzles played elsewhere. • Toolbar popup – the same solver in a popup, with optional pattern filters (fixed letters, letters that must or must not appear). • Stays out of the way – drag the panel anywhere, minimise it to a small pill, or close it; the toolbar button brings it back. Keyboard focus stays on the game. • English and Simplified Chinese interface, following your browser language, switchable with one click. PRIVACY • No account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. • Nothing you type or play is sent anywhere. The word list ships inside the extension and everything runs locally. • Only your preferences (language, panel position, filters) are saved, in your browser's local extension storage. • The extension only runs on https://www.nytimes.com/games/wordle/ and requests a single permission: "storage". WORD LIST About 6,000 five-letter English words from the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary intersected with English Wiktionary (CC BY-SA 4.0), ranked by word frequency. It is not the official answer list, and the extension never reads or reveals today's answer – it only reasons from the colours you have already uncovered.
