The main app at klipptik.com is where you organise, edit, share, and search your library. The extension is for the moment you're actually watching — when you spot something worth keeping. Without the extension, you'd leave YouTube, paste a URL into the app, scrub to find the moment again, and mark it there. With the extension, it's two button clicks while the video plays. WHAT IT DOES The extension adds four buttons to the YouTube player: - Mark Start — captures the current timestamp as the start of a clip - Mark End — captures the end and saves the clip to your library - Save Video — saves the whole video (no clip) to your default folder - Open Drawer — slides your full library in from the right Saved clips appear as markers on the YouTube progress bar, so you can see at a glance which moments you've already captured from the video you're watching. The side drawer shows your entire Klipptik library — folders, videos, clips — laid out as a tree. Reorganise by drag-and-drop. Right-click any video or clip to tag it or rate it. Click a clip to jump the YouTube player straight to its start time. Saving works on three kinds of pages: - Watch pages — save individual clips, or the whole video - Playlist pages — save the entire playlist with one click - Channel pages — save the channel and pull in its videos Already-saved videos are recognised automatically — the Save button switches to a "Saved ✓" indicator, so you never duplicate. PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS — WHAT WE TOUCH AND WHY This extension is small and scoped. We ask for the minimum needed to do its job. - YouTube pages — to read the current video, detect the player, and inject our four buttons and timeline markers. We do not modify YouTube's playback, network requests, or recommendations. We do not interact with ads. - klipptik.com — to read and write your own Klipptik library when you're signed in. - Clerk authentication — to keep you signed in across YouTube tabs. We use Clerk's official Chrome Extension SDK with the sync-host pattern, so you sign in once on klipptik.com and the extension picks it up. - chrome.storage — to remember your drawer-open preference and which folders you've expanded. We do not store your video content here. What we don't do: - We don't track your YouTube viewing history - We don't intercept, modify, or block network requests - We don't read other tabs or sites — host access is scoped to YouTube and klipptik.com only - We don't store videos on your device — clips are timestamp references, not copies - We never load remote-hosted code — every line of JavaScript ships inside the extension bundle REQUIREMENTS - A free Klipptik account (sign up at klipptik.com) - Chrome or another Chromium-based browser with Manifest V3 - YouTube-only for now — Vimeo, Twitch, and others land in later versions BUILT BY A SOLO DEVELOPER Klipptik is a solo project.
