Salesforce Migration Inspector
Overview
Inspect and migrate Salesforce metadata, permissions, fields, layouts, references, jobs, and code coverage.
Salesforce Migration Inspector helps Salesforce administrators, developers, architects, and migration teams inspect metadata, understand dependencies, review permissions, and export information for migration planning and documentation. Use your existing Salesforce browser session and access the tools through the compact M menu within Salesforce. No separate Connected App configuration is required. FEATURES 1. Show Fields API Names With Export Display field API names and developer names beside recognized fields on the current Salesforce record page. Download field metadata directly from that page without opening another window. Export displayed fields or all accessible object fields, including object name, record type and record type ID when applicable, field label, API name, developer name, data type, size, precision, scale, formula, and other attributes. Automatically refreshes when navigating between records. 2. Dependent Picklist Inspect controlling and dependent picklist mappings for a selected object and record type. Supports objects without custom record types and exports mappings to Excel. 3. Object Relationships Identify objects and relationship fields that reference a selected object. Review relationship names, field labels, and relationship data types, then export the results to Excel. 4. Object Picklist Values View active picklist values for a selected object. Select one or multiple picklist fields and export their labels, API values, and default-value information to Excel. 5. Object Field Details Review standard fields and custom fields created directly in the org, including developer names, qualified API names, labels, data types, length, precision, scale, and other field attributes. Export the results to Excel. This tool excludes managed-package fields. 6. Layout & Component Fields Inspect field labels and API names by page layout, record type, or Aura/LWC component. Select an object for layout searches, or search components with an optional object filter. Review detected field references and export the results to Excel. 7. Object References Search for references to a selected object across Apex classes, triggers, Lightning Web Components, Aura components, Visualforce, page layouts, and Lightning pages. Review the detected references and export them to CSV. 8. Object & Field Permissions Review permission information by selecting a user, an object, or both. Inspect object and field access alongside readable profile and permission-source information. Search results and export them to CSV. 9. Scheduled Apex Jobs Review accessible scheduled Apex jobs, including job names, status, Cron expressions, time zones, next and previous execution times, execution counts, and creation details. Export the inventory to CSV. 10. Object Field Mapping Upload source and destination Excel files to compare field API names and labels. Identify matching and unmatched fields, review the matching method, and download the comparison as an Excel workbook. 11. Formula Field Details Inspect formula fields for a selected object, including field labels, API names, return types, and formula expressions. Search the results and export them to Excel. 12. Bulk Field Creation Download a sample Excel template, enter field definitions, select a target object, and preview the uploaded configuration before creating custom fields. Select multiple profiles for field access, with System Administrator used by default when no profile is selected. Review creation results and failure reasons, then export the results to Excel. 13. Apex Code Coverage Review available Apex coverage information, including covered and uncovered lines and coverage percentages. Coverage below 75% is highlighted in red; coverage of 75% or higher is highlighted in green. Search, sort, choose a page size—including All—and export all or selected results to CSV. BUILT FOR METADATA REVIEW AND MIGRATION PREPARATION • Export metadata inventories for documentation and migration planning. • Investigate object relationships and detected component dependencies. • Compare field definitions between source and destination environments. • Review permissions and existing Apex coverage. • Search and sort supported result tables. • Create custom fields from a structured Excel template. ACCESS AND SCOPE A logged-in Salesforce session and the permissions required by each Salesforce API are necessary. Results depend on the current user’s access and the metadata Salesforce exposes. Component analysis reports detected references; dynamically generated references or protected component source may not be available. Bulk Field Creation creates custom fields and applies the selected profile field permissions when the user initiates creation. Salesforce Migration Inspector supports migration assessment and preparation; it does not automatically migrate an entire Salesforce org. This is an independent extension and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Salesforce.
