LaTeX Type
Overview
See LaTeX formulas as you type across websites. Turn commands into symbols in text fields and choose where it works.
See your formula where you write. LaTeX Type brings live mathematical previews and LaTeX-to-symbol typing to compatible text fields across websites. Write a fraction, root or equation in a comment, form, note or chat and see the rendered notation beside the field before you submit it. Keep writing in the editor you already use. Two ways to write math: - Preview complex formulas while keeping their LaTeX source editable. The floating preview follows the field you are using. - Turn familiar commands into characters in your text: type \alpha then Space for α, \to then Space for →, or \mathbb{N} for ℕ when the command is complete, including when you fill pretyped braces. Choose where it works: - All websites, except the domains you exclude. - Only the websites on your allowed list; everywhere else stays off. - Use the extension menu to manage both lists or toggle the current website. A listed domain includes its subdomains. Each mode remembers its own list. Works with ordinary text/search inputs, textareas and many contenteditable editors, including compatible chat editors. HTTP and HTTPS embedded forms are supported subject to the containing website's rules. Password fields, recognized payment/security fields, read-only fields and known code editors are skipped. Browser pages, Chrome Web Store pages, local files, canvas editors and some custom or closed-shadow editors are unsupported. No extension can promise compatibility with every website or editor. Install, allow browser site access, and refresh the pages you want to use. By default it works on compatible fields across websites; choose “Only these websites” for an explicit allowlist. Browser site permissions can further restrict access. No extension account, API key or separate equation editor is required. Preview and symbol replacement can be switched on independently. Rendering and text replacement happen locally. The extension processes only the focused compatible field on an enabled website. Field text is not stored or sent to the developer. Site domains are checked locally against your rules; only preferences and the domain lists you choose are saved. There is no browsing-history collection, analytics or advertising. Voluntary feedback prepares an email draft that you review and send yourself. The preview displays notation. It does not solve equations, verify correctness, insert formula images or guarantee how submitted text appears on another website. Unknown commands stay text. Pasted blocks are not automatically rewritten. Website or editor changes may require compatibility updates. English is the default interface. Ukrainian, German, Russian, Spanish, Italian and French are also available. All features are free. Optional creator support opens an external Buy Me a Coffee page and unlocks no features.
