Overview

Edit the copy on any web page in place, then copy a brief to share with a coding agent or assistant.

Kiln lets you edit the words on any web page right where they are, then hands the changes to whoever will make them real: a coding agent, an AI assistant, or a teammate. Open the panel on a page, click any headline, paragraph, button label or link, and type. The page updates in place so you can see the new copy in context. Every edit is collected in the side panel with the exact before and after text and the heading it sits under. When you are done, copy it all as one brief and paste it into your coding agent, a ticket, or a message. Developed by the team at www.aweber.com to help us design and iterate with our AI tools. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Edit text in place. Click, type, done. Undo and redo as you go. • Edit the whole page as Markdown when you would rather work in one document. • Add notes to anything. Right-click an image, button or section to say what should change. Kiln attaches a cropped screenshot so there is no guessing which element you meant. • Preview style changes. Try a different color, spacing or font size on an element, or change a design token, and see it live before you ask anyone to ship it. • Edit images on the page. Crop, mask, add text or shapes, adjust color, then save the result into the brief. • Run copy lint. Catch AI-sounding phrases, words your team avoids, inconsistent terms and copy that is too long for its spot. Add your own rules, or let an LLM check against instructions you write, using your own API key. • Export as a brief, a unified diff or the full page in Markdown. WHY INSTALL IT Reviewing copy in a design tool or a document means someone later has to find each string in the code. Kiln works on the real page, so the before text is exact, the location is exact, and a coding agent can apply the change straight to the source. It replaces screenshots with arrows, long comment threads and "the second paragraph under pricing, I think." HOW IT RESPECTS YOUR BROWSER Kiln asks for no access to websites. It only runs on a tab when you click its icon, press its shortcut or pick one of its menu items on that tab. Close the panel and the site behaves normally again. Your edits, notes and settings stay on your computer. Nothing leaves your machine unless you turn on LLM checks, which call the provider you choose with your own key. Works on any site, on staging and localhost, and on local HTML files when you allow file access.
