Overview
escwasd.com's Chrome extension for keyboard & mouse: fast keyboard test + Pro key chatter & ghost typing. Offline, 10 languages
Keyboard Test by ESCWASD is a fast, 100% offline Chrome extension that turns your browser into a mechanical-keyboard diagnostics station. Whether you're unboxing a new board, hunting for dead keys, or checking a used keyboard before you buy, it tells you in seconds exactly which keys work. TWO TEST MODES • Normal key test — Click the extension and start typing. Every key lights up on screen the moment you press it, so you can spot unresponsive, double-firing, or chattering keys (key chatter) at a glance. A live stats panel tracks your total and unique key presses, and remembers your best records locally. • Key chatter & ghost typing detector (Pro) — The fastest way to catch a defective keyboard. Click Start, then leave the keyboard untouched. If any key types on its own (ghost typing) or double-fires (key chatter) during the monitoring window, the tool flags it as a fault and shows how many phantom keystrokes it caught. No false positives from your own typing, because you simply don't touch it. According to the ESCWASD 2026 report, across 4,000 mechanical keyboard test reports, 1% showed self-firing key faults (ghost typing) — a small but real share of boards that trigger keys on their own. This tool catches exactly that, in seconds. WHY INSTALL IT • No ads, no accounts, no cloud — it runs entirely on your device. • Supports 65% compact and full-size layouts, in 10 languages, with light / dark / auto themes and a full-screen mode that maximizes the on-screen keyboard. • Perfect for keyboard enthusiasts, e-commerce sellers verifying stock, repair shops, and anyone buying or selling second-hand gear. PRIVACY YOU CAN TRUST This extension collects, uploads, logs, or transmits zero keystroke or personal data — ever. The only network request is a read-only fetch of promotional text and links from escwasd.com; it sends nothing back. The only thing stored on your machine is your UI preference (language, theme, size) and two numeric best-records, kept in chrome.storage.local and never synced or shared. Note: Like all browser-based testers, the Fn key and function-row keys (F1–F12) generally can't be detected by the browser — everything else is fully testable.
