SoftSub — Subtitles & Auto-Sync for Any Video

Overview
Find, sync and translate subtitles on any HTML5 video. Auto-sync verifies itself before it changes your timing.
Subtitles that actually line up — on any video, on any site. SoftSub finds a subtitle for whatever you're watching, overlays it on the video, and fixes the timing for you. It works on any HTML5 video, so it isn't limited to one streaming service. WHAT MAKES THE SYNC DIFFERENT Most subtitle tools ask you to nudge the timing yourself. SoftSub listens to the video's audio, builds a picture of where speech starts and stops, and matches that against the subtitle's own timing — the same approach as ffsubsync. It usually settles within 30 seconds of playback. The important part is what it does when it isn't sure: nothing. A wrong offset applied confidently is worse than no offset at all, so SoftSub verifies a result before using it and refuses rather than guessing. It also corrects framerate drift (23.976 / 24 / 25 fps), which is the reason subtitles that start out fine slide out of sync an hour later. FEATURES • Subtitle search across several open sources, with no API keys to set up • Load your own .srt, .vtt or .ass files • Automatic sync, with drift correction over long films • Live translation into 100+ languages, shown alongside the original or on its own • Drag the caption anywhere; change font, size, colour and background • A ⋯ menu on the caption itself — the only way to adjust timing in fullscreen • Remembers the subtitle and your timing per video, and brings it back on reload • Export the corrected .srt • Keyboard shortcuts: Alt+S sync, Alt+, / Alt+. nudge, Alt+V show/hide OPTIONAL: CAST INFO (X-RAY) Turn it on and a panel shows who's in the scene — photos, actor and character names, in the style of Prime Video's X-Ray. It's off by default and does nothing until you enable it. An additional opt-in adds on-device face recognition, which matches faces on screen to the cast list. That analysis happens entirely on your computer: no video frame ever leaves your machine. FREE VS SOFTSUB PRO Free, forever: subtitle search from Podnapisi and Addic7ed, loading your own subtitle files, and everything about displaying, positioning, styling, manually timing and exporting a subtitle. SoftSub Pro — $4/month after a 7-day trial, no card for the trial: • OpenSubtitles and SubDL as subtitle sources • Automatic sync • Live translation (500,000 characters/month) PRIVACY No accounts, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking. Video and audio never leave your device — sync and face recognition both run locally. When live translation is on, the subtitle text (and only that) is sent to a translation service.
