A fast, local-first floating notepad. Capture notes while you read without leaving the page.

Keep Notes is a small notepad that opens on top of the page you're reading. Click the toolbar icon or press Alt+Shift+K and a notes panel appears over the article, docs page or research paper you're on. You don't need a new tab or an account, and you stay on the page. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Take notes on any page: the panel opens over the current page without reloading it or navigating away. • Move and resize it: drag the panel anywhere and resize it from any edge or corner. It remembers where you left it. • Save text from the page: highlight text on the page and click "Add selected text" to add it to your note, with a link back to the page it came from. • Keep many notes: create, switch between, search and delete notes. Pin the important ones to the top. • Format as you type: bold, italic and underline (Ctrl/Cmd+B, I, U). Type "- " for a bullet list, "1. " for a numbered list or "# " for a heading. • Get automatic titles: each note is named from its first line until you give it your own title. • Never lose work: notes save automatically as you type, and a status shows when they're saved. • Use the theme you like: light, dark or match your system. • Use the keyboard: Ctrl/Cmd+Enter makes a new note, Escape closes the panel and Alt+Shift+K opens and closes it. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your notes stay on your device. Keep Notes has no server, no account, no analytics and no tracking, and it never connects to the internet. Everything is saved in your browser's local extension storage. Keep Notes only runs on a page when you open it there. Website styles can't affect the panel, and any formatting in text you paste is removed, so a note only ever contains what you put in it. PERMISSIONS • storage: saves your notes and settings on your device. • activeTab and scripting: show the notes panel on the page you're viewing, and only when you open it.
