Overview

Pick any color on a page and copy its hex code, RGB, HSL or OKLCH, with color names and the closest Tailwind colors. No ads.

KD Color is a lightweight color picker and eyedropper for Chrome. Pick any pixel on a webpage and copy its hex code, RGB, HSL or OKLCH, with its color name and the closest Tailwind CSS colors. No ads, no tracking, about 200 KB, and it can't see the websites you visit until you start a pick. WHAT YOU GET • Live magnifier: see the HEX and OKLCH of the pixel under your cursor before you click, with a zoomed view for pixel-exact picks. Arrow keys nudge one pixel at a time. • Pick any color on the page, including images, gradients and video frames. The popup gets out of the way while you pick. • Hex code, RGB, HSL and OKLCH, each formatted for CSS. Click a value to copy it. • Closest Tailwind colors: the three nearest Tailwind CSS v4 palette colors, like orange-700, with swatches. Click one to copy it, ready for bg-, text- or border-. Matched on your device, so it works offline. • Color names: the nearest named colors, so you can say "Mahogany" instead of #c2410b. • History: your last 12 picks stay one click away, and the toolbar icon shows the color you picked last. • Keyboard first: Alt+Shift+P (Option+Shift+P on Mac) starts a pick right away. Alt+Shift+C opens the popup. You can change both in chrome://extensions/shortcuts. WHY OKLCH OKLCH is the modern CSS color space: lightness, chroma and hue that match how people see color. KD Color shows it next to HEX, RGB and HSL, so you can move a design system to oklch() without a converter. LIGHTWEIGHT AND PRIVATE • No ads, no account, no analytics, no tracking. • Small: about 200 KB to install. No background work while you browse. • Minimal permissions: no access to all your websites. KD Color reads a page only when you start a pick, from a screenshot kept in memory and discarded right after. • Picks and history stay in Chrome's local storage on your device. Formats and Tailwind matches are computed locally. • To find color names, KD Color sends only the hex value (for example #c2410b) to the KD Color API at color.koval.tools. Nothing about the page is sent. If the API can't be reached, you get the nearest CSS color name instead. Privacy policy: https://color.koval.dev/extension/privacy Made by koval.dev.
