Shelf Connect

Send links, files and pages from Chrome to your Android phone running Alcove (formerly Shelf), and get files back. No cloud.

Shelf Connect links Chrome to the Shelf app on your Android phone over your own WiFi. Nothing goes through a cloud server and there is no account to create. SEND TO THE PHONE • Right-click any link, image, video or selected text → Send to Shelf. • Send the page you are on with one click, or press Alt+Shift+S. • Drop files on the popup: they land in the phone's Inbox. • Take a screenshot of the tab, or save the whole page as one file, straight to the phone. GET FILES BACK • On the phone, pick files → To browsers. They arrive here as a notification, or download by themselves. • The Receive view lists everything the phone has received, from any device. A DASHBOARD FOR EVERY PHONE • Your phone's address, storage and status at a glance. • Browse the phone's files with previews, upload and download. • Transfers, chat and a shared clipboard with every device on the network. • Works with HTTPS when the phone offers it, and with the phone's WiFi Direct network. WHAT YOU NEED • An Android phone with the Shelf app, with sharing turned on (Shelf → Connect → Start sharing). • Chrome on a computer on the same WiFi, or joined to the phone's own network. PRIVACY Shelf Connect only talks to the phone addresses you add. It has no servers and no analytics. Optional AI helpers use Chrome's built-in model or your own Claude API key, and are off until you turn them on.
