Overview
Turn YouTube, Netflix & podcasts into language lessons: bilingual subtitles, click-to-translate, AI summaries and flashcards.
Learn a language from the content you already watch and read—without switching apps or copying text into another tool. Kapt AI turns everyday browsing into practice: bilingual subtitles on YouTube, instant word lookups on any page, and a vocabulary list that stays in sync with your Kapt Learning Center account. WHY KAPT AI? Most language apps give you artificial drills. Kapt AI meets you where you already spend time—videos, articles, and the open web—so every session feels like real input, not homework you have to force yourself to do. CORE FEATURES ▸ YouTube language learning Open a video with captions, launch Kapt’s subtitle panel, and study line by line: • Original, translated, or bilingual display • Jump to any line and sync playback • Hover or select words in subtitles for definitions • Subtitle translation uses your browser’s on-device translation when available ▸ Click-to-translate & word lookup On almost any website: • Select a word or phrase for definitions, pronunciation, and AI-powered explanations • Translate selections with one action or keyboard shortcut • Save words to your personal vocabulary ▸ Immersive bilingual reading Turn long articles into readable dual-language pages: • Show original only, translation only, or both side by side • Translate content as you scroll—great for news, blogs, and documentation • Turn immersive mode on or off per site ▸ Vocabulary that follows you • “Learning” and “Mastered” lists inside the extension • Sign in to sync with Kapt Learning Center across devices • Guest mode for trying the extension before you create an account ▸ Built for control • Enable or disable Kapt on the current site • Blacklist / whitelist rules for domains you choose • Interface in English and Simplified Chinese (more languages coming) QUICK START 1. Install Kapt AI and complete the short setup in Learning Center (pick languages, sign in or continue as guest). 2. Click the Kapt icon on any page to open the drawer. 3. On YouTube, open the subtitle panel and pick your display mode. 4. On articles, select text to look up words or toggle immersive translation. KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS • Alt+Shift+Y — Toggle immersive translation on this page • Alt+Shift+K — Translate your current selection WHO IS IT FOR? • Intermediate learners who want more input from YouTube and the web • People preparing for exams who need vocabulary in real context • Anyone tired of pausing videos to look up words in a separate dictionary app REQUIREMENTS & NOTES • Video subtitle learning currently focuses on YouTube; the video must provide captions or a transcript (no automatic speech-to-text in the extension). • On-page translation quality depends on your Chrome version and whether on-device translation is available for your language pair. • An internet connection is required for dictionary lookups and account sync. PRIVACY Kapt AI is built by the Kapt team. Read our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (including the extension-specific privacy policy) on kapt.fun before use. Install Kapt AI and make your next video or article your language lesson.
