Overview

Highlight a kanji to see the first result from Jisho.org.

Kanji Highlighter lets you look up any Japanese word on the fly — highlight text on any webpage to instantly see its reading, pitch accent, and English meaning in a clean popup. NOTE: You need to activate the extension by toggling it on (on the "Extensions" section on Chrome, on the upper right). FEATURES - Highlight any Japanese word to get an instant popup with its kanji, kana reading, and English definitions, sourced from Jisho.org. - See the pitch contour of every word directly on its reading. High and low morae are marked with overlines and underlines, with step markers showing where the pitch rises or falls. Accent data is sourced from OJAD (Online Japanese Accent Dictionary, University of Tokyo). - Right-click any selected Japanese text and choose "Search on Jisho.org" to open the full dictionary entry in a new tab. - Easily turn the highlighter on or off from the extension popup — useful when you don't need it on certain pages. Powered by Jisho.org and OJAD (Online Japanese Accent Dictionary by the University of Tokyo).
