Overview

Read Japanese anywhere on the web, save the kanji you meet, and review them from your new tab.

Kana Lens reads Japanese off your screen, and then makes sure you actually remember it. Point it at anything: a manga panel, a YouTube subtitle, a PDF, a screenshot, a website. Press the shortcut, drag over the text, and you get the translation plus a word-by-word breakdown with readings and meanings. Then save the kanji worth learning, and Kana Lens turns your new tab into the place you review them. Most lookup tools stop at the answer. This one keeps it. HOW IT WORKS 1. CAPTURE — Press Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + K and drag over any Japanese text. Kana Lens reads pixels, not markup, so image text and video subtitles work exactly like ordinary web pages. 2. SAVE — Every word and particle in the breakdown has a Save button, and the sentence you found it in is saved with it. That context comes back later, when you are trying to remember why you knew this one. 3. REVIEW — Your new tab becomes a study room: the review queue at the top, your whole kanji grid colour-coded by how well you recall it, and what needs work today. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT · Quizzed both ways. Kanji → meaning tests recognition. Meaning → kanji tests recall — the harder direction, and the one that tells you whether you really know it. · Counts that mean something. Every kanji shows how many times you have met it on real pages and how many times you got it right in review. · No scheduling to babysit. No due dates, no backlog guilt. Your whole list, random order, whenever you feel like it. · Colour is memory. Mastered, solid, shaky, never reviewed — legible at a glance across your entire grid. · It lives where you already are. No second app to open, no deck to import, no sync ritual. WHO IT IS FOR Anyone wating to read Japanese above their level. JLPT students, manga and light-novel readers, people who moved to Japan and read signs all day, and anyone whose "look it up and forget it" cycle has stopped working.
