)Overview
Free Korean dual subtitles for YouTube and Netflix: your language + Korean, pronunciation, word lookup, a notebook and transcript.
Free Korean dual subtitles for YouTube and Netflix. See the subtitle language you pick above the Korean original, with pronunciation, word meanings, a notebook and a transcript — everything you need to learn Korean from the K-dramas, variety shows and vlogs you already watch. Every feature is free. NEW IN 0.5.1 • A short how-to guide opens once after you install. Updates open nothing; the popup shows a small "What's new" link instead. • "Keep learning" links in the popup and the notebook to OByeolLab's free TOPIK mock tests, the Everyday Korean Phrasebook and the guide. NEW IN 0.5.0 • Notebook: save a whole subtitle line (with its translation and a link back to the moment) or a single word with its dictionary form and meaning. Search, delete and export to CSV or Anki (front / back / context). • Transcript: open every line of the video in a side panel, search it, and click a line to jump there. • Practice listening: loop a line, slow down to 0.75× or 0.9×, and blur the translation or the Korean until you are ready to check. • Your progress: minutes watched with Korean subtitles, lines seen and words saved, today and in total — kept only in your browser. • Bigger built-in dictionary (about 3,100 words) for hover and click lookup. • A new look, and the settings in 16 languages. • Everything is free. There is no paid plan. WHAT IT DOES • Dual subtitles: the caption language you select in YouTube or Netflix appears above the Korean original, with an optional pronunciation line, in sync with the video. • Pronunciation: Hangul in Latin romanization. Japanese Katakana and Cyrillic approximations work offline; other non-Latin scripts currently use Latin. • Click any word: the video pauses and a small popup shows the word, its romanization, a breakdown into stem and particles or endings (for example 학교에서 → 학교 + 에서), the meaning when the word is in the built-in list, and links to Naver Dictionary and Wiktionary. • Hover to peek: point at a Korean word to see its dictionary form and meaning without pausing. • Learn line by line: repeat the current line, jump to the previous or next one, loop a line, or pause automatically after every Korean line. • Keyboard shortcuts for all of it, plus Korean subtitle timing in 0.1-second steps, text size and showing or hiding each line. • Display settings: font size, top or bottom, distance from the edge, background, and hiding the player's own captions in Korean mode. • Interface in Korean, English, Chinese (Simplified), Vietnamese, Thai, Khmer, Russian, Indonesian, Uzbek, Mongolian, Filipino, Nepali, Bengali, Sinhala, Burmese and Japanese. WHERE IT WORKS • YouTube™ videos that have Korean subtitles (uploaded or auto-generated). The English line uses the video's English subtitles when available, otherwise YouTube's own automatic translation. • Netflix titles that offer Korean subtitles. Some titles need Korean selected once in the player to load its subtitle text. • If a video has no Korean subtitles, the extension tells you so instead of showing anything. HOW TO USE 1. Install the extension and open a video with Korean subtitles. 2. In the player's subtitle menu, choose the language you want to read (for example English). It appears above the Korean line. If Korean is missing, select Korean once in the player's subtitle menu (on YouTube, press CC once). 3. Click or point at a Korean word to look it up. Press B to save the current line, or Y to open the transcript. 4. Open the toolbar popup for settings, your progress and the notebook. "All settings & shortcuts" lists every key. Guide with every shortcut and answers to common questions: https://kdrama.obyeollab.com/welcome.html MORE FREE STUDY The popup and the notebook page link to free study sites by the same developer, OByeolLab: TOPIK I and II mock tests with every answer explained, and an Everyday Korean Phrasebook for life in Korea. They open in a new tab only when you click them. PRIVACY No account, no sign-up, no tracking, no ads in the extension. Settings, your notebook and your progress stay in your own browser (chrome.storage). The extension sends nothing to us or to any third party: it only asks YouTube or Netflix for the subtitles of the video you are watching, as their own player does. Right after installation it opens our how-to guide once in a new tab, and the "Keep learning" links open our study sites only when you click them; those are ordinary websites with their own privacy policy and may show ads. Full policy: https://obyeollab.com/kdrama-dual-subs-privacy.html NOTES • Subtitle quality depends on the video: auto-generated Korean subtitles and machine translations can contain mistakes. • Pronunciation is rule-based and approximate; word meanings come from a built-in list and rarer words may show none. K-Drama Dual Subs is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google, YouTube or Netflix. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC. Netflix is a trademark of Netflix, Inc.
