## Category Workflow & Planning (alternate: Productivity) ## Single purpose Justin is a browsing-session manager. It suspends idle tabs to free memory, measures how long each site is used, sorts that time into study and entertainment, and enforces the daily limits the user sets. The notes, tasks, timer and password store are the small tools that belong to the same session — kept in the same panel so the user does not need four more extensions for them. Everything runs and is stored locally. ## Detailed description (paste as-is; the Store field is plain text) Justin is five small tools behind one toolbar button, aimed at the two things a browser is worst at: eating memory, and eating your afternoon. SUSPEND TABS, GET THE MEMORY BACK Park one tab, the whole window, or everything. A suspended tab drops the page out of memory and shows a dimmed snapshot of how it looked with a play button — click it and the page comes back exactly where you left it. Tabs you have not touched for thirty minutes park themselves, unless they are pinned, playing audio, or on your never-suspend list. Justin shows roughly how much memory the sleeping tabs freed and keeps a running total. Two separate promises for the tabs you want left alone: "don't suspend this tab" holds the one you are on until you close it, and "don't suspend this site" covers every tab on it, from now on. Either way the tab icon wears a green ring. SEE WHERE THE DAY WENT Time per site, to the second, as a bar or a pie chart. Click any site for a connected scatter plot of your day — hour by hour for today, or daily, weekly and monthly across the last week, month, six months or year. STUDY OR ENTERTAINMENT, WORKED OUT FOR YOU Justin sorts sites as it goes: your own corrections first, then a list of a hundred-odd known working and entertainment sites, then what the page says about itself, then the words in the title. Anything genuinely unclear stays unsorted rather than guessed at. YouTube is judged video by video, because a lecture and a music video are not the same afternoon. It weighs the channel, YouTube's own category, the uploader's tags, the title, the running time, whether the description has chapters, whether it is a Short, and whether it is an auto-generated music upload. No single signal decides it, and when the evidence is thin it says so rather than pretending. Correct it once and it remembers the channel. The result is a donut and a stacked bar of study against entertainment over a day, week, month, six months or year. Hover either to see the sites behind the number. LIMITS THAT HOLD, OR JUST A TAP ON THE SHOULDER Give a site twenty minutes a day. When it runs out, choose what happens: the site closes until midnight, or Justin pauses it — the video stops, the page dims, and you pick five more minutes, fifteen more, or enough for today. Reminders repeat every five minutes by default for as long as you stay. Limits can name a corner of a site, so youtube.com/shorts can have its own budget while the rest of YouTube runs free. Changed your mind? "Use today" lifts a limit until midnight and puts your tabs back on the exact page they were on. GOALS, AND AN HONEST REVIEW Set a line — entertainment under a percentage or a number of minutes, or study above a number of minutes — judged daily or weekly. Justin shows how the day is going against it, keeps a dot per day for the last week, and tells you each morning whether yesterday landed. NOTES, TASKS, A VAULT AND A CLOCK Notes with no titles and no folders: just write, drag to reorder, and one button saves a picture of the tab you are on into a note. A daily checklist that comes back unticked each morning, so the list stays a routine rather than a backlog. Logins encrypted with AES-GCM under a key derived from your password (PBKDF2-SHA256, 200,000 iterations), with a generator and per-entry reveal and copy. A countdown with presets and a saved default that beeps for ten seconds when it lands, plus a stopwatch with laps — both keep running with the popup closed. WHAT JUSTIN DOES NOT DO No account server. No sign-up, no email, no telemetry, no advertising, no third-party scripts of any kind. Your browsing history, notes and passwords live in this browser's own storage and are never sent anywhere. There is no password recovery, because there is nobody holding a copy. A backup file, saved from the guide behind the ? button, carries everything to another machine. OPTIONAL: COUNTING APPS TOO Chrome extensions cannot see anything outside the browser, so time in Obsidian, Xcode or a game is missing from the study and entertainment split. If you want that gap closed, Justin can talk to a small helper you install separately — about ninety lines of Python you can read, reporting only the name of the frontmost app and the keyboard idle time. It is optional, off until you enable it, macOS only for now, and Justin works perfectly well without it. WHY THE PERMISSIONS - Access to the sites you visit: to photograph the visible tab for the paused-tab screen and note screenshots, and to replace tabs on a site that has reached its daily limit. - Unlimited storage: tab screenshots attached to notes. - Tabs: reading tab URLs and ids to suspend and restore tabs, measure per-site time, and enforce limits. - Scripting: measuring a page's memory footprint just before it sleeps, and drawing the pause screen over a site that is past its limit. - Notifications and offscreen: showing and sounding the timer alarm. - Native messaging: the optional app helper above.
