JustFYI
Overview
Just FYI - know if an online tool is actually free, freemium, paid, or abandoned, and get pointers to genuinely free alternatives.
You searched "free PDF merge". You clicked the top result. It looks legit — then it paywalls you after you upload your file, adds a watermark to your work, or turns out to have been abandoned three years ago. JustFYI tells you before you upload. The toolbar icon changes based on the site you're on: • Free — no catches, no paywall • Free with limits — works, but expect caps or friction • Paid — will charge you • Abandoned — project is dead, move on • Unrated — not in the database yet (help us rate it!) When you hit a paywalled or limited tool, the popup suggests genuinely free alternatives in the same category. Everything runs locally: • No tracking. No analytics. No telemetry. No ad networks. • The ratings database ships inside the extension. It never sends your browsing history, URLs, or page content anywhere. • Open source. The database is public. The code is auditable. You can submit a rating from the popup if you spot a tool that's missing, miscategorized, or has changed its pricing. Source: https://github.com/VladimirWrites/justfyi
