Overview
Hold Ctrl, tap Q to jump between your 5 most recent tabs.
JumpTab brings the Cmd+Tab pattern to your browser. Hold Ctrl, tap Q ā an overlay appears showing your 5 most recently used tabs. Release Ctrl to jump to the highlighted one. It's the tab switcher your muscle memory has been waiting for. āāā WHY MRU āāā Chrome's built-in Ctrl+Tab cycles tabs in the order they were opened, not the order you were using them. JumpTab fixes that: the top of the list is always the tab you were just on. A quick double-tap jumps you back ā exactly like Cmd+Tab does between apps. āāā HOW IT WORKS āāā ⢠Ctrl+Q ā open switcher, cycle forward ⢠Ctrl+Shift+Q ā cycle backward ⢠Release Ctrl ā commit to the highlighted tab ⢠Quick tap Ctrl+Q ā jump straight to your previous tab āāā DESIGN āāā ⢠Glass overlay with backdrop-blur, styled after macOS Cmd+Tab ⢠Real favicons ⢠Works on every page where Chrome allows content scripts; falls back to direct tab-switching everywhere else so the shortcut never gets stuck āāā PRIVACY āāā JumpTab runs entirely on your machine. No telemetry, no analytics, no network calls. Your tab list never leaves your browser. The only network fetches it makes are to favicon URLs that your browser already knows about ā and only to cache them locally for the overlay. āāā KEYBOARD REBINDING āāā The Ctrl+Q / Ctrl+Shift+Q shortcuts can be rebound at: chrome://extensions/shortcuts āāā OPEN SOURCE āāā JumpTab is open source (MIT). Source code, issue tracker, and release notes are on GitHub.
