Overview
Lossless, private and queryable HTML viewer. Tree, raw, CSS selector and XPath views — fully local, no accounts, no telemetry.
JSTools HTML Inspector is a privacy-first viewer for HTML documents and page markup. It runs only when you click the toolbar icon, keeps everything on your device, and shows the document exactly as received. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT • Lossless — the Raw view shows the original bytes of the response and is never re-serialised, re-indented or "cleaned up". • Two sources, side by side — inspect the raw HTML the server sent AND the live DOM after JavaScript has run, and switch between them with one dropdown. • Private — installs with no host permissions, no analytics, no telemetry, no network requests of its own. Nothing leaves your browser. • Queryable — first-class CSS selectors and XPath with live results, plus one-click copy of the CSS selector or XPath for any node. SOURCES • Raw response — the HTML exactly as the server sent it for the current URL. • Live DOM — the current post-JavaScript state of the page, including anything injected by frameworks or scripts. • Pasted HTML — paste any markup or load a local .html file, with no page needed. This is also the fallback on restricted pages such as chrome:// and the Web Store. FEATURES • Tree view — lazily rendered so large documents stay responsive. Collapsible nodes, syntax colouring for tags, attributes, values, comments and doctype, child counts on collapsed nodes. • JavaScript and CSS highlighting — inline <script> and <style> contents are syntax highlighted in their own language, not shown as flat text. • Raw view — exact original text, word-wrap toggle, copy and download. • Query view — CSS selectors via querySelectorAll and XPath via document.evaluate, including scalar XPath results such as count(//a). Debounced live execution, reveal-in-tree for any match, copy result / copy selector / copy XPath / download, and a local-only history of your last 10 queries. • Global search across tags, attributes and text (Ctrl/Cmd+F) with match count, next/previous and auto-reveal in the tree. • Per-node context menu: copy outerHTML, innerHTML, text content, CSS selector, XPath, expand/collapse subtree. • Light and dark themes, following your system preference by default. PERMISSIONS Installs with only activeTab, scripting, storage and clipboardWrite — and no host access. The extension can only read the tab whose toolbar icon you clicked, and only at the moment you click it. Handles documents up to about 4.5 MB per source while staying responsive (the tree is rendered lazily, only expanded branches are built).
