JSONL Desk
Overview
Open JSONL / NDJSON links, local files or pasted text. Browse, edit a copy, transform selected text and download a new file.
Read remote JSONL and NDJSON files directly in Chrome. Open a file URL and browse JSON one record at a time, without downloading a file and uploading it to another viewer. You can also choose Open local file or Paste JSONL to read files from your computer or text with one JSON value per line. Both inputs work offline and are processed in the browser without uploading content. Local inputs are not restored after closing or reloading the page. Edit a record copy, validate and apply it, then download a new JSONL file. Source files remain unchanged; edits are not saved automatically. Available in English and Simplified Chinese. The reader initially follows your browser language, with English as the fallback. Switch languages at any time using the top-right selector; your choice is remembered locally. Browse by original line number, search keys and content, expand objects and arrays, filter invalid JSON lines, view the current copy and copy the original text. Large integers, long decimals and exponent notation retain their original numeric text. Invalid lines do not prevent you from reading other records. Format, minify, convert to XML, escape/unescape JSON strings and copy the result of each selected record. Choose tree expansion levels 1–5, expand all or collapse all. Large trees expand in batches. Editor tools also work on selected text, with a preview before replacement. Escape/unescape supports string values or string contents; XML is preview/copy only. All processing happens in the browser and leaves source files unchanged. HTTP / HTTPS page URLs ending in .jsonl or .ndjson open automatically in the reader, even when the server serves the file as an attachment. For URLs without a file extension, use the link context menu or open the viewer from the extension toolbar and paste the URL. Access to login-protected resources depends on the source site's permissions and the browser's cookie policies. Insert records before/after a selection or at the file start/end. Mark records for deletion and undo it. Review added/modified/deleted counts and a side-by-side original/current Diff; preview original/draft differences in the editor. Large diff previews disclose their limits; full records remain available. Downloads include all non-deleted records regardless of filters: UTF-8, one record per line, blank lines omitted, with edited and a timestamp in the new filename. Incomplete loads and remaining invalid records block export. Deleting every record deliberately exports an empty JSONL file. Restore individual records and receive reminders before leaving with changes. Files are parsed and searched in your browser, with no developer-operated server, advertising, telemetry or analytics. The extension requests only the chosen file URL and its normal redirects. The browser may send cookies according to site policies. Designed for typical UTF-8 files under 20 MB. Each file is limited to 100 MiB or 200,000 records. If loading stops or a limit is reached while reading, the reader indicates that only part of the file is available. Local inputs over 100 MiB are rejected before reading. Choose local files using the file picker; direct file:// navigation, archives, POST downloads and custom authorization headers are not supported.
