Overview
Generate readable HTML documentation from a JSON Schema in the current tab, a file, or pasted text.
JSON Schema Docs by JSONBuddy turns JSON Schema documents into clear, readable HTML documentation. Open a JSON Schema in your browser, select a local JSON file, or paste schema content directly into the extension. The generated documentation opens in a separate browser tab and can be downloaded as a standalone HTML file. MAIN FEATURES - Generate readable documentation from JSON Schema - Load JSON from the active browser tab - Select a local .json file - Paste JSON Schema content directly - Display schema structures as HTML and scalable SVG - Download the generated documentation as an HTML file - Process schemas up to 50 KB - Support internal $ref references - No account or registration required - No advertising or behavioral tracking HOW IT WORKS 1. Open the extension from the Chrome toolbar. 2. Load JSON from the current tab, select a local file, or paste a schema. 3. Review and accept the privacy disclosure on first use. 4. Select “Send schema and generate documentation.” 5. View or download the generated HTML documentation. The extension reads the active browser tab only after you explicitly select the corresponding command. It does not monitor pages or collect browsing history in the background. USE CASES JSON Schema Docs is useful for: - Documenting API request and response formats - Explaining configuration-file structures - Reviewing unfamiliar JSON Schema documents - Sharing schema definitions with developers and stakeholders - Producing documentation for project repositories - Creating scalable schema diagrams - Quickly understanding nested properties and constraints PRIVACY Documentation is generated by the JSONBuddy Web API. The JSON Schema you select, paste, or load is transmitted securely over HTTPS to api.json-buddy.com solely to generate the requested documentation. Submitted schemas are processed for the request and are not retained as application data or intentionally written to application logs. Standard server access logs may record connection metadata such as IP address, timestamp, endpoint, user agent, and response status, but not request bodies. Generated documentation is stored only in Chrome session storage while it is displayed. If you download the generated HTML file, that file remains under your control. Schema content is not sold, used for advertising, or shared for unrelated purposes. Read the complete privacy policy: https://www.json-buddy.com/json-schema-docs-extension-privacy.htm CURRENT LIMITATIONS This version accepts individual JSON Schema documents up to 50 KB and supports internal $ref references. External or multi-file schema references are not currently supported. An internet connection is required because documentation is generated by the JSONBuddy Web API. PRIVATE AND OFFLINE PROCESSING For confidential schemas, larger projects, command-line automation, or completely local processing, use the JSONBuddy command-line tool. The CLI keeps schema processing on your computer and can be integrated into automated development workflows.
