Omni Bar: Skip Sponsors & Hide Shorts
Overview
Ad blocker for YouTube, custom progress bar colors, SponsorBlock sponsor skip, dislikes, Hide Shorts and pitch black dark mode.
Omni Bar has one purpose: to customize and clean up the YouTube watching experience. It blocks YouTube ads, recolors the video progress bar, skips sponsor reads automatically, brings back dislike counts, hides Shorts and adds a pitch black dark mode, replacing the four or five separate extensions people usually install for this, all from one small popup. Block YouTube ads • On by default: a lightweight ad blocker for YouTube. When a video ad starts, Omni Bar mutes it, speeds it to the end and clicks Skip for you, then puts your volume and playback speed back exactly as they were. • It also hides banner and overlay ads, the big masthead ad on the home page, and promoted videos in your feed, search results and sidebar, so you can block ads without installing a separate extension. • It works right inside the YouTube page with no extra permissions and no network filtering, and one switch in the Watch tab turns it off if you'd rather skip ads yourself. Color your progress bar • Choose a solid color, a multi-stop gradient, or an animated RGB rainbow progress bar, and add a soft glow if you like. • Pick any shade from a full color wheel, or tap one of 50 named gradient presets grouped into Classic, Nature, Cities, Food, Space, Gems and Neon (think Sakura, Tokyo Neon, Matcha Latte or Galaxy Nebula). • Changes show up live while the video plays. You don't need to reload. Recolor the YouTube logo and tab icon • The red logo in the header and the icon on your browser tab can follow your bar color, for a fully custom YouTube theme. One switch turns this off. Skip sponsors automatically • On by default: a built-in sponsor skipper uses community data from the third-party SponsorBlock API. It jumps past paid sponsor reads, self promotion and "like and subscribe" reminders, and you can also opt in to skipping intros, outros, previews and filler. • A small toast tells you what was skipped and gives you an Undo button. Skipped segments also show as markers right on the bar. • Each category can be switched on or off, and there's a main toggle to stop skipping sponsors at any time. See dislikes again • On by default: a dislike counter appears next to the like button, with a like-to-dislike ratio bar, powered by the third-party Return YouTube Dislike API. Hide YouTube Shorts • Remove Shorts shelves from your home feed, search results, subscriptions and sidebar, and hide the Shorts tab and menu entry. Block Shorts when you want a cleaner feed, and turn them back on with one switch. Pitch black dark mode • Turn YouTube's dark theme into a true AMOLED pitch black YouTube dark mode, with pure black backgrounds for the feed, header, sidebar and menus. It's easy on the eyes at night and looks great on OLED screens. • Small accents on selected filter chips, links and the subscribe button use the same color as your progress bar, so the whole page matches without getting loud. You can switch it off from the Feed tab. A dark interface that follows your color • The popup and settings page use a dark design. The whole interface, including the round badge in the toolbar icon (its black emblem stays black), follows whatever color you pick for your bar. • The settings page has a live preview of a real player bar (chapters, sponsor markers, hover state), the header logo and the tab icon, so you see exactly what you'll get. Privacy first • No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. Your settings stay in Chrome's own sync storage, and nothing is ever sent to the developer. • Two features contact third-party services, and both are on by default (each can be turned off in the Watch tab): – Sponsor skipping: only the first 4 characters of a SHA-256 hash of the video ID are sent to SponsorBlock (sponsor.ajay.app), so the server never learns exactly what you're watching. – Dislike counts: the ID of the video you open is sent to Return YouTube Dislike (returnyoutubedislikeapi.com). • Full details: https://omni-bar.extensioncreatorco.workers.dev/privacy Free forever, with optional support • Omni Bar is free forever, with no ads and no tracking. If it makes your YouTube better, the "💖 Support the dev" button lets you leave an optional tip via Stripe (it opens Stripe's own checkout page). Tips keep updates and new features coming, and every feature works without one. Credits Uses the SponsorBlock and Return YouTube Dislike APIs, two third-party community services. Sponsor segment data comes from SponsorBlock (sponsor.ajay.app), a community project by Ajay Ramachandran and contributors (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). Dislike data comes from Return YouTube Dislike (returnyoutubedislike.com). Omni Bar is independent. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube, Google, SponsorBlock or Return YouTube Dislike.
