HumDocs Typer types text into a Google Doc or a Google Slides text box the way a person would, instead of pasting it all at once. Paste your text, choose how long it should take, and press Start. It types character by character, pauses, sometimes mistypes a word and goes back to fix it, and finishes at the time you asked for. What ends up in the document is the text you gave it, with every typo corrected. GETTING STARTED 1. Open a Google Doc (or a Slides deck) and click where the text should go. 2. Click the HumDocs icon and paste your text. 3. Pick a duration, or use Recommended, and press Start typing. CONTROLS Typing time. Set anything up to 3 hours. Recommended types a short piece at an everyday typing speed, about 40 words a minute, and gives a longer piece more time, the way people write one: about 27 words a minute for a 500-word essay, and never slower than about 20. Pauses, typos and rewriting included. It always shows its real time, even for a text that needs more than 3 hours. Minimum is the fastest pace that still types naturally, and HumDocs will not start with less. A small gauge says "Quick pace" when a time is fast for the text. Save pauses. Longer stops, so the Doc saves in several steps rather than one. Typo rate and instant fixes. How often it mistypes, and how quickly it notices. Every mistake is corrected. Rewriting. How often it changes its mind, mostly at the start of a sentence: it types the next word too early, or starts with "this" and changes it to "that". The finished text is the same. Styles set all four in one click: Rough draft, Natural, Careful and Quick, or set each control yourself. Saving your own styles is part of Pro. WHILE IT RUNS A timer in the corner of the document shows time left and progress, with pause and stop buttons. Drag the timer or the reference card to another place and it snaps there; HumDocs remembers. The Doc stays yours: if you click or type in it while HumDocs types, it waits until you stop, puts its cursor back after its own text and carries on, so your text and its text never mix. If it cannot find its place, it pauses and says so (in Slides it always pauses). With Pro, a card beside the page shows the text coming up next. An optional chime plays when a run finishes. HumDocs keeps typing while you use other tabs. If Chrome slows the Doc tab down, typing pauses until you come back to it. Closing the window, quitting Chrome or the computer going to sleep ends or pauses the run. Notifications (Settings) tell you when a run that was supposed to start by itself could not, and when one finishes. Chrome asks you to allow them the first time you schedule a run. They appear the way any other notification on your computer does. Chrome has to be running. While a run is typing, HumDocs stops the computer from going to sleep, so a long run can finish while you are away. The screen can still turn off. It lets go as soon as the run pauses, stops or finishes. TYPE LATER (PRO) Press the arrow beside Start typing and pick a time: in an hour, tonight, tomorrow morning, or any time you choose. HumDocs types then, at the end of the Doc, keeping the computer awake until it does. Or type right after another Doc, so several go one after another. You can close the Doc: at that time HumDocs opens it in a background tab and types (Open closed Docs, in Settings, on unless you turn it off). Reloading the Doc or restarting Chrome does not stop it. Chrome has to be running at that time. If the computer was off or asleep then, it never types late in a burst: it waits and asks you. Files you import are read on your computer, and run history stays on your computer. The extension runs only on docs.google.com (Docs and Slides). It contacts our server for licensing: to start the free trial, when you press Start on the first screen, it sends a random number it made when it was installed (and, after an update from a version before 2.3.0, that version's number, for the longer trial); and to check a Pro key you enter, it sends the key and that number. The number names no person and no computer. It also sends anonymous counts of events like installs and runs (which event, the plan and the version number), with no identifiers, so we can see basic numbers. LIMITS Google Docs and Google Slides. In Slides it types into the text box you click into, and Type later is for Docs only. Keep the tab open while it types. Emoji are left out, and the popup warns you first, because Google Docs cannot receive them from an extension; add them by hand afterwards. Tab characters are skipped.
