BlurShare: Click-to-Blur for Screen Sharing
Overview
Blur any element, selected text or auto-detected emails and phone numbers before you share your screen. Free and fully local.
Share your screen without sharing what you shouldn't. BlurShare hides the sensitive parts of any web page before you present, record a demo or take a screenshot. Client names, email addresses, phone numbers, balances and API keys stay unreadable to your audience while the rest of the page looks normal. Every feature is free: no account, no limits, no upgrade prompts. WHAT YOU CAN DO - Click to blur: start the picker, point at anything on the page and click. Click again to unblur. The up arrow grabs the whole row or card, Ctrl+Z undoes. - Draw a box: drag a rectangle over any area, handy for charts, images and embedded content. - Blur selection: highlight text and blur it, along with every other place the same text appears on that site. - Auto-blur: finds emails, phone numbers, long numbers such as card and account numbers, money amounts, and keys and tokens. Pick the types you want. Content that loads later is blurred too. - Your own keywords: add names, projects or IDs that should never be readable. - Remembered per site: what you blur is saved for that site. The first time you blur something on a site, BlurShare asks whether to blur automatically on reload there. Say yes (or allow all sites in Options) and saved blurs are in place as the page loads, so a reload in the middle of a call exposes nothing. - Also included: adjustable blur strength, a per-site on/off switch, keyboard shortcuts and a practice page with made-up data. PRIVATE BY DESIGN BlurShare works entirely inside your browser. It makes no network requests and contains no analytics or tracking. Your rules and keywords are stored only on your device. By default it runs only on the tab where you click its icon. Access to a site is requested only when you accept the offer to blur automatically on reload or switch it on yourself, and you can turn the offer off in Options. Keywords and saved text are masked in the popup, so opening it on a shared screen does not give them away. GOOD TO KNOW BlurShare hides content visually on your own screen. The text is still part of the page, so use it for screen sharing, recordings and screenshots, not for redacting files you send to others. Chrome does not allow extensions on its own pages or the Chrome Web Store. Content inside frames embedded from other sites is not scanned; cover it with Draw a box.
