Job Tracker
Overview
Use Job Tracker to save postings in one click: a job application tracker extension with a kanban board, notes and CSV export.
Job Tracker saves the posting from your open Chrome tab in one click, then lets you move it across a clean kanban board: Saved, Applied, Interview, Offer, Rejected. Stop losing good roles in forty open tabs and scattered notes. This job application tracker keeps them in one place. There's no account, and everything stays in your browser. Save a role the moment you find it, then track job applications through every stage. WHAT YOU GET ✅ One click saves the posting you're viewing, with its link and details ✅ Right-click a link to save the role without opening it ✅ Notes and a dated stage history on each card ✅ Search across titles, companies, locations and notes ✅ Undo right after you delete a card ✅ A dark theme that follows your system ✅ The Alt+Shift+J shortcut Maybe you kept a list in Google Sheets and gave up by week two. A spreadsheet means typing every title, company and link by hand, and rows get skipped on busy days. You won't stick with any job app tracker if adding a role is more work than closing the tab. Here it takes one click. HOW IT WORKS 1. Open a posting, for example on Indeed or a company's careers page. 2. Click the Job Tracker icon or press Alt+Shift+J. 3. Check the fields. The page is read once, right after your click. 4. Save it, and the card lands in Saved. 5. Open the board and drag the card to the next stage as things move. Keeping this job hunt tracker current takes one drag. Job search tracking comes down to one habit: move the card on the day something changes. No need for a separate LinkedIn job tracker: in search results, the extension saves the role you have open, so you can click through openings and keep the ones worth a look. WHEN A SAVE DOESN'T GO TO PLAN ▸ No details on the page: its title becomes the role name. ▸ A Chrome page, the Web Store or a PDF: you'll see why and can add the role by hand. ▸ Already saved: you'll see its card and stage, not a duplicate. ▸ Saving fails: what you typed stays, so you can try again. PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS The extension asks for four permissions and nothing more: activeTab and scripting to read the open posting once, only after you click the icon, press the shortcut or pick a menu item; contextMenus for the right-click items; and storage to keep your jobs in this browser. It has no access to any site until you ask, and then only to that one tab. It makes no network requests, and the CSV file is built on your computer. There's no account, no sign-up and no analytics. Remove the extension, and your jobs go with it, so export a CSV first. THE BOARD The Job Tracker board opens in its own tab. Every card shows: - the role, the company and the location - the site it came from, and a note icon once you add notes - the current stage and the day it last changed Click a card to edit it, open the posting, see its history or add notes. Changes save on their own. The Interview column doubles as a job interview tracker: each card there shows the day it moved in. A full job search CRM handles contacts and follow-ups. This board keeps job application tracking simple: one card per role, five stages and your notes, with no AI and no reminders. SPREADSHEET EXPORT Export CSV turns the board into a job tracker spreadsheet: every card, nine columns, from title and stage to notes and two dates. Import it into Excel, or into Google Sheets with File → Import. If your Excel job tracker has turned into a mess of colors and half-empty rows, the board is a clean place to start over. FAQ Q: How much does it cost? A: Nothing. It's free. Q: Which job sites does it work on? A: You can save from any page you have open. When the page lists the details, as postings on LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, Lever and Workday do, the fields fill in on their own. When it doesn't, the page title becomes the role name and you type the rest yourself. Q: Does it track job applications on its own? A: No. It doesn't read anything in the background: you move a card when something changes, and each move is dated in its history. Q: Can I add jobs I applied to before installing it? A: Yes. Add each one by hand on the board and set its stage, such as Applied. Q: Is there a phone app too? A: No, it only runs in Chrome on your computer. Q: Can it replace the spreadsheet I keep in Google Sheets? A: For day-to-day tracking, yes, but you'll need to add the rows already in your sheet by hand. Export CSV gives you a spreadsheet copy any time, though the copy doesn't update itself. Install the Job Tracker Chrome extension, pin the icon and save the next posting you open.
