Overview

Proxy SOCKS5 made simple: connect Chrome to any SOCKS5, SOCKS4 or HTTP proxy in one click. Bypass list, auto-reconnect, no tracking.

Proxy SOCKS5 is the simplest way to use a SOCKS5 proxy in Google Chrome. Enter your proxy host and port, save it, flip the switch – and all your browser traffic goes through your SOCKS5 proxy. No accounts, no ads, no tracking. Whether you run your own SOCKS5 server, use an SSH tunnel (ssh -D), Tor, Shadowsocks, a residential proxy or a proxy from your VPN provider, Proxy SOCKS5 connects Chrome to it in seconds. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ★ WHY PROXY SOCKS5? ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ✔ One-click on/off – turn your SOCKS5 proxy on or off right from the toolbar ✔ SOCKS5, SOCKS4, HTTP and HTTPS proxy support ✔ Save as many proxies as you like and switch between them with one click ✔ Bulk import – paste a list in host:port or host:port:user:pass form, or import/export JSON ✔ Proxy only the sites you choose, or everything except your bypass list ✔ One click to send the site you're on through the proxy (or around it) ✔ Test button – checks the proxy and shows the exit IP, country and speed ✔ WebRTC leak protection, so websites can't see your real IP around the proxy ✔ Remote DNS with SOCKS5 – Chrome sends hostnames to the SOCKS5 proxy for DNS resolution, so lookups don't use your local resolver ✔ Always keep connected – your proxy is restored automatically when Chrome starts and re-applied if something resets it ✔ Bypass list – send localhost, your intranet or any domain directly, without the proxy ✔ Settings are saved – close the browser and your SOCKS5 proxy configuration is still there ✔ Status at a glance – a green "ON" badge shows when the proxy is active ✔ Conflict detection – warns you when another extension or policy controls Chrome's proxy settings ✔ Light and dark mode ✔ Proxy logins – save a username and password with an HTTP/HTTPS proxy and the credential pop-up stops appearing ✔ Lightweight – no analytics and no remote code; WebRTC protection and the IP test ask for their permissions when you first use them ✔ No background tracking, no ads, no remote code ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ★ HOW TO USE A SOCKS5 PROXY IN CHROME ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 1. Click the Proxy SOCKS5 icon in the Chrome toolbar. 2. Click "Add". 3. Choose the protocol: SOCKS5 (recommended), SOCKS4, HTTP or HTTPS. 4. Enter the proxy host (for example 127.0.0.1 or proxy.example.com) and port (for example 1080). Add a name if you like, and a username and password if your HTTP/HTTPS proxy needs one. 5. Click "Save". 6. Turn on "Enable proxy". The badge turns green – you're browsing through your SOCKS5 proxy. Saved more than one? Click any proxy in the list to switch to it instantly. Tip: turn on "Always keep connected" so the proxy is back on every time Chrome starts. Have a list from a proxy provider? Click Import and paste it – every line becomes a saved proxy. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ★ POPULAR USES ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • SSH SOCKS5 tunnel – run "ssh -D 1080 user@server", then point Proxy SOCKS5 at 127.0.0.1:1080 to browse securely through your server • Tor – use 127.0.0.1:9050 (Tor daemon) or 127.0.0.1:9150 (Tor Browser) • Shadowsocks, V2Ray, Xray, Clash and other local clients that expose a SOCKS5 port • Residential and datacenter SOCKS5 proxies from your proxy provider (IP-whitelisted) • Testing websites from another location, QA and web development • Reaching internal resources through a company SOCKS5 gateway ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ★ PRIVACY ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Proxy SOCKS5 does not collect, sell or transmit any data. Your proxy host, port, bypass list and any proxy username and password are stored locally in your browser only, and credentials are sent to nobody but the proxy you configured. The extension contains no analytics, no ads and no remote code. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ★ FAQ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Q: What is a SOCKS5 proxy? A: SOCKS5 is a network protocol that forwards your browser's connections through a proxy server. Unlike an HTTP proxy, SOCKS5 works at a lower level and can carry any kind of traffic, and it lets the proxy server resolve domain names for you. Q: SOCKS5 vs HTTP proxy – which should I choose? A: Choose SOCKS5 when your provider or tunnel offers it (SSH, Tor, Shadowsocks). It's more flexible and resolves DNS on the proxy side. Use HTTP/HTTPS only if your proxy is an HTTP proxy. Q: Does Proxy SOCKS5 support username/password authentication? A: For HTTP and HTTPS proxies, yes – save the username and password with the proxy and the extension answers the login automatically, so Chrome stops showing its credential pop-up. For SOCKS5 and SOCKS4 it is not possible: Chrome itself has no login step in its SOCKS handshake. Use a proxy that authorizes your IP address (IP whitelisting), or run a local client (SSH, Shadowsocks, etc.) that handles authentication and exposes an unauthenticated SOCKS5 port on 127.0.0.1. Q: Is Proxy SOCKS5 a VPN? A: No. It connects Chrome to a SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy that you provide. Only traffic from Chrome goes through the proxy – other apps on your computer are not affected. Q: How do I check that the proxy works? A: After enabling the proxy, visit any "what is my IP" website. It should show the IP address of your proxy server. Q: Why does Chrome warn that it can "read and change all your data on all websites"? A: That warning comes from the proxy permission itself – an extension that routes your traffic necessarily has that reach, and every proxy extension shows it. The same access is what lets Proxy SOCKS5 answer HTTP/HTTPS proxy logins for you. There are no content scripts, no analytics and no remote code, and nothing about your browsing leaves your device. Q: The status shows "BLOCKED" – why? A: Another extension (or a company policy) controls Chrome's proxy settings. Disable other proxy/VPN extensions and try again. Q: How do I stop using the proxy? A: Open the popup and turn off "Enable proxy". Chrome goes back to a direct connection immediately. Q: Does it work in Incognito mode? A: Yes, the proxy setting also applies to Incognito windows when you allow the extension in Incognito (chrome://extensions → Proxy SOCKS5 → Details → Allow in Incognito). ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ★ ABOUT THE DEVELOPER ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Proxy SOCKS5 is built and maintained by Anonymous Proxies (DR SOFT S.R.L), a proxy provider operating since 2010. Homepage and support: https://anonymous-proxies.net The extension is free and works with any proxy, from any provider, or with your own server or tunnel. It does not require an account and does not favour or contact our service in any way. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Install Proxy SOCKS5 and use a SOCKS5 proxy in Chrome in seconds – simple, fast and private.
