Handrail: Accessibility Checker
Overview
Scan the page you have open for accessibility problems, then get a plain-language checklist for the checks a scan can't do.
Handrail checks the page you have open for accessibility problems, then walks you through the checks a scanner can't make. Click the Handrail icon, then Scan this page. You get: • The Core 8: text contrast, image descriptions, form labels, link names, button names, page language, keyboard access and visible focus. • Fix these next: what to work on first. • Show on page: jump straight to the element with the problem. • Possible problems for you to confirm, like vague link text or alt text that looks like a file name. • 23 guided checks in plain language, mapped to WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA. • Copy report: a Markdown summary for an issue or pull request. Scan again after you fix things, and Handrail shows what you fixed and what's new. It works on localhost. Automated checks find only some problems, so a clean scan doesn't mean a page meets WCAG. Handrail never marks a check as good for you. Privacy: everything runs in your browser. No network requests, no analytics, no accounts.
