Highlight a passage on a site you choose, then find it again after you reload. Most tools remember where a sentence sat in the layout. When the page is redesigned, the mark disappears. Hilitely remembers the words and a little of the text around them, so the highlight comes back after a reload, a redesign, or a week away. How it works • Click the toolbar icon and switch the site on. Chrome asks once, for that one site only. • Select text. A small bar appears under the passage: five colors, a note, tags, and copy as Markdown. • Click a highlight later to change its color, note, or tags, or to delete it. • Reload the page or come back later. The marks are found again by their text. • If the words are gone, the quote stays in your library as "not found". It is not dropped, and it returns if the text comes back. Library • Quotes grouped by site and page, newest pages first. • Search, filter by tag, sort sites, open a quote, and jump to it on the page. • Copy a quote as Markdown with the page title, link, and date. • Download a JSON backup and import it on another computer. Import adds quotes and never overwrites the ones you already have. On the page • A passage can run across paragraphs and headings. • Overlapping passages stay visible, each in its own color. • Step through the highlights on a page from the toolbar window. • Text stays readable on dark pages. • Works when more text loads later, and on sites that change the address without a full reload. Private by design • No account, no server, no analytics. The extension makes no network requests. • Everything stays in your browser on this computer. • No site is readable until you switch it on. Switch a site off at any time, or remove its access. Saved quotes stay in the library. Not in this version • PDF files, Google Docs, canvas-based editors, and frames from other sites. • No sync between computers. Move the library with the backup file.
