Overview

Hoard tabs, guilt-free. Foldaway puts your open tabs away into tidy folders on your new tab page, and brings any back in one click.

Hoard tabs, guilt-free. Forty tabs you'll "read later"? A hundred? Foldaway turns your new tab page into a calm, uncluttered place: a search bar, your favourite shortcuts, and a set of folders. One click puts your open tabs away. Each one is saved into a folder (named after its tab group, or sorted by site) and closed, so your tab strip only holds what you're using right now. Every saved tab keeps its icon, and a click brings it back. • Put away all your open tabs at once, just the one you're on (right-click the page), or the ones you tick, or drag single tabs into folders • Coming from OneTab, Toby or Session Buddy? Bring your saved tabs along: paste OneTab's list, or import their export files or any browser's bookmarks • Folders show their tabs' icons, like app folders on a phone • Stays quick with a big hoard: tested with 20,000 saved tabs • Undo puts tabs back exactly where they were, in the same window, position and tab group • Optionally, tabs you haven't used for a while are put away by themselves, and the next new tab tells you, with Undo • Idle open tabs go to sleep to free memory, and big folders reopen without loading every tab at once • Search the web with your usual search engine (or ask Google's AI Mode, with its own button), or find any saved tab, with the folder it's in • Gmail, Images and every Google app a click away, as on Chrome's own page, your favourites on top • Your shortcuts start with the sites you visit most, as on Chrome's own page, and Settings suggests sites (open, saved or most visited) as you type one in • A clock (or two, for another place) and the weather for your city, if you'd like them: each turns on by itself, in the corner, big above the search bar, or in a quiet line under it, and the clock comes in four looks: classic, a dial, flip cards, or cards like the folders • Putting everything away leaves pinned tabs, tabs playing sound, video calls, and the tabs and sites you choose open (right-click a page: Foldaway → Keep this tab open, or keep the site) • Close a tab you'd saved and Foldaway asks whether it can leave its folder too, so folders don't fill up with things you've finished • Pin the tabs you use most to the top of their folder • Mark the tabs you'd hate to lose as "Always keep": they never leave their folder by accident • Back up your folders to a file, or keep a copy in your Chrome bookmarks that stays up to date by itself (it syncs with your Google account if Chrome sync is on, and you can bring your folders back from it) • Works with a keyboard and screen readers • Looks like Chrome's own new tab page, or pick light, grey or dark, a background (a soft gradient or your own picture, whose colours Foldaway can take on), a folder size, and how many folders sit in a row • Already have another new tab extension? Foldaway's toolbar button still opens your folders No account, no server, no tracking: your folders stay on your computer (and in your bookmarks, if you turn that on). Only the weather sends anything, if you turn it on: the forecast comes from MET Norway, and your city is found with Photon.
