Overview

40 search terms at once, each in its own colour. Wildcards and regex included, free.

TurboFind is a multi-keyword highlighter for Chrome. Search for many terms at once and see each one highlighted in its own colour. Forty terms, wildcards and regular expressions, all free. No subscription, no usage limits, no paywalled features. FEATURES - Multi-term search — up to 40 keywords at once, each in its own colour - Wildcards and regex — use * and ? for quick patterns, or regular expressions for precise matching. No length limit on a pattern - Copy matches with context — export matches with the surrounding text as markdown, grouped by term, with the page title and URL included, ready to paste into your notes or an AI chat - Clear about what it knows — counts show as provisional while a search is still running, and are marked when a result is incomplete for a reason TurboFind can detect - Jump between matches — step through results with Enter and Shift+Enter, with your position shown - Whole-word and case matching — works with accented letters and with non-Latin alphabets including Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic and Devanagari - Saved lists — keep your term sets and switch between them from the list drawer - Per-site control — turn TurboFind off on any site from the toolbar menu - Live updates — matches refresh automatically as a page changes - Keyboard-first — opens with Ctrl+Shift+F (Cmd+Shift+F on Mac), and you can remap it WHAT IT DOESN'T DO Worth knowing before you install: - A match can't cross an element boundary. If a phrase has a link, bold or italics anywhere inside it — including between its words — it won't be found. Searching "New York" on a page where "York" is a link finds nothing there, and the count gives no sign of it. This is the biggest limitation in the extension. - Export is capped at 100 matches in total, shared across all your terms, not 100 each. The export says when it hit the cap. - Editable areas are skipped. Rich-text editors, comment boxes and document editors aren't searched, so nothing TurboFind does can end up saved inside your own text. It flags editable areas it finds when the bar opens, but not ones that appear afterwards. - It doesn't run everywhere. Local files, Chrome's PDF viewer, the Web Store, chrome:// pages and the new tab page are all off limits — the shortcut simply does nothing there. - Some content is unreachable. Text inside iframes isn't searched. Nor is text inside components that keep their contents private from extensions — and those, by their nature, can't even be flagged. Text hidden from screen readers is also skipped without a flag. - Where two of your terms overlap on the same text, the overlap goes to one term only. The other term isn't highlighted there and its count reads lower. - Some text isn't stored the way it looks. An accent can be written as one character or two, a word can contain an invisible hyphen or joiner, and a search for the version you typed won't find the other one. Whole-word also behaves as a plain search in Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Lao, Khmer and Myanmar, which don't separate words with spaces, and can match inside a word containing an invisible joiner, as Persian often does. With match-case off, ß and SS don't match each other, nor do Turkish İ and ı against i and I. - Regex has limits. Patterns run without the u, s and m flags, very complex patterns are refused, and the whole regex pass stops after two seconds — each of which shows a visible error on the term. Separately, a regex match that spans an internal text boundary can be missed, and the count won't tell you. - With assistive technology attached to the tab, a very large search — around 20,000 matches — can leave the browser unresponsive for tens of seconds. This is a cost inside Chrome's own accessibility processing rather than in the extension. - If a page rewrites its own text while a search is still being applied, a highlight and its count can both stay wrong until something else changes on the page. Adding or removing a term rebuilds them. PRIVACY TurboFind runs only when you open it, only on the tab you're using. It doesn't read pages in the background, and page content is never sent anywhere. Two things to know. Your saved lists, settings and per-site preferences are stored using Chrome's sync storage — so if you have Chrome Sync switched on, Chrome copies them to your Google account and your other devices, the same as your bookmarks. And if you uninstall, the feedback page below receives one bit about whether a search ever found matches. ON UNINSTALL If you remove the extension, Chrome opens a short feedback page. It receives the extension version, how many days it was installed, and whether a search ever found matches — no identifier, no account, and nothing about what you searched for or which sites you visited. The form is optional and asks for no personal details. Open with Ctrl+Shift+F and start finding.
