Kelma Media Helper
Overview
Study any video with Kelma: subtitles you can tap, the word inspector and Card Maker in a side panel, and saving to your library.
Kelma Media Helper brings Kelma (kelma.tech) next to whatever you watch or read. It opens Kelma in your browser's side panel and connects it to the page you're on. Study videos • Kelma's transcript, word inspector and Card Maker follow the video on the page. • Subtitles drawn over the video: tap a word (or drag across a phrase) to look it up; words are coloured by how well you know them. • Uses the page's subtitles or YouTube captions, subtitles you saved or uploaded, or live subtitles. • Live subtitles: the video's audio is turned into text on your own computer (Whisper; graphics card if available). Off unless you turn it on; Kelma says how well it's expected to work for your language. • Romanization for languages not written in Latin letters. • In fullscreen, the inspector opens over the video or beside it. Read web pages and PDFs • Read a page's article (or just your selection) with tappable words, or turn on "On the page" to colour and tap the words of the page itself. • Highlight a phrase or a whole sentence: drag across it, or tap a word and Shift-click another. • Open a PDF in Kelma's PDF view (pdf.js) to tap the words on its pages. Save media • Finds the videos, audio and subtitles a page plays (including HLS streams) and saves them to your Kelma library: a copy in your cloud library with Kelma Premium, otherwise a link. YouTube videos are added as links; streaming services and social networks are never downloaded. Kelma assistant • The assistant in the panel can use media you point it to, look at a screenshot of the page when you allow it, and repair the subtitles of what you're studying. Every change is shown for you to review first. Privacy • Kelma only reads a page when you open its panel there, on sites you allow ("Allow on all sites" or one site at a time). • When you study or save a page, Kelma receives its address and title (to link it to your library); words you look up and text you read go to Kelma like any Kelma lesson. • Screenshots are taken only when you allow them, once, and go to the assistant's AI with your chat. • Live subtitles and Kelma's PDF view run on your computer. To show a PDF's text in the panel's Read tab, the PDF is sent to Kelma to extract the text. • Media it downloads for Kelma never includes your cookies or logins, and local or private network addresses are refused. • No analytics, no ads; it doesn't sell or share personal data. Privacy policy: https://kelma.tech/privacy DRM-protected and live streams can't be saved. Only save media you have the right to use. Kelma is a language-learning ecosystem by Kelma Tech LLC.
