Overview

Turn any YouTube video into a Claude Code skill — search, generate, and download without leaving the browser.

SkillitHub lets you capture expert knowledge from YouTube and turn it into a Claude Code skill — a reusable slash command you can run directly inside Claude Code. This extension adds a single "Skill it" button to every YouTube video page. One click opens SkillitHub with the video already loaded and extraction running automatically. How it works 1. Find a YouTube video with a method, framework, or workflow you want to reuse 2. Click the orange "Skill it" button next to the Like and Share buttons 3. SkillitHub extracts the transcript, generates a structured skill file, and shows you exactly how to install it on your Claude Desktop or Claude Code Web. Drop the file into Claude Code or local files of Claude Code Desktop and use it as a /command in any project. What you can skill - Copywriting and sales frameworks (Hormozi offers, Cialdini persuasion, cold outreach) - Marketing playbooks (launch strategies, funnel walkthroughs, ad scripts) - Coding tutorials (any pattern or architecture explained on video) - Productivity systems (workflows, SOPs, decision frameworks) - Any video where someone explains a repeatable method What this extension does - Adds a button to YouTube watch pages only - Reads the current video URL when you click - Opens skillithub.com in a new tab with extraction starting immediately - Does not read your browsing history, collect data, or run in the background - A free SkillitHub account is required. Sign up at skillithub.com — no credit card needed. ---- Version 1.1.0 — bug fixes only, no new permissions. - Fixed the toolbar icon doing nothing when clicked. - Added a background service worker so clicking the icon opens skillithub.com (with the current video pre-filled when on a YouTube watch page). - Fixed the "Skill it" button not appearing when users navigate to a video from within YouTube (single-page navigation). - The content script now handles YouTube's in-app navigation events and uses more robust element selectors. - No changes to permissions, data collection, or functionality scope. The extension still only runs on youtube.com and opens our website in a new tab. Version 2.0 - storage: Persists the user's login session across popup opens so they don't have to sign in every time - host_permissions: youtube.com: Injects the "Skill it" button on YouTube watch pages and reads the active tab's URL to detect when the user is watching a video
